Frequently Asked Questions
What should my child bring? Your child will need to have clothes for 7 days of camp including at least 2 swimsuits, rain coat, a sweater or jacket, pajamas, back pack, beach towel and sturdy shoes for hiking and games. They will not need sheets or blankets. We will be providing food and snacks throughout each day. What to Bring List
Who are my counselors going to be? When hiring our staff, we look for young adults who exemplify a wholesome role model for your children. We recruit our staff members from colleges and universities throughout Vermont and New England. We also have teachers and other professionals working with and living in the townhouse. Each counselor must go through a rigorous application process, which includes a personal interview and reference check.
How are the rooming arrangements made? We will be grouping the campers by age and gender. There will be between 5-8 campers in the townhouse with two counselors. The age groups will be 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. There can be some flexibility to accommodate friends and relatives. The assignments will be made by the directors prior to arrival.
What information do parents need to provide to counselors? The registration form that you send to us will provide the information for the counselors.
Will there be phone calls or mail? There will be one phone call during the week. When the campers check in the parents and the counselors will pick a time for a phone call that works with the parents' schedule. We will also have the campers write at least 3 times during the week. We encourage the parents to also write. Emails can be sent to campsmuggs@smuggs.com.
What if my child gets sick or needs medication? We will have a nurse on duty to supervise the taking of daily medications. They will also be on call through out the day. We also have EMTs on staff at Smugglers’ Notch who are available to respond to emergencies 24 hrs a day.
