Meet the Sales Associates

Betty Brgant
In 1986, Betty and her husband John were vacationing in Vermont and while hiking nearby, Betty stopped by Smugglers’ to ask if there were any sales positions open. There were and she’s been with Smuggs ever since. The Brgants live at the top of a hill in Cambridge where Smuggs’ Thursday night fireworks are visible all Winter long. Betty and her family love to take advantage of the golf, tennis, kayaking and skiing available here in the Green Mountains.

Laura Hartley Fagan
A “Vermonter by choice”, Laura firmly believes that this is one of the most beautiful spots in the world. This mother of five-year-old twins is always busy outside. She loves mountain biking, skiing, kayaking and anything else that keeps her outdoors. A 15-year veteran of Smuggs, Laura also loves to travel. She visits Maine and Florida every year, as well as other exciting locations by using her RCI membership.

Working at Smugglers’ provide his wife and three children with lots of fun outdoor opportunities like skiing, swimming in the pools and hiking. This mother of three is a native, as she grew up in Middlebury, Vermont. Jodie came to us originally to work in our Public Relations department. For the past 7 years, she’s been introducing families to Vacation Ownership. One of the reasons she says she loves her job is that the quality of vacations here and ethics embraced by Smugglers’ make it easy to share with visiting families. Jodie and her family live in South Burlington where they enjoy a thriving arts community and great schools.

Stan Shumski
Stan lives with his wife Grace and their 14 year-old daughter, Lena, in the quaint village of Colchester near Lake Champlain. He originally came to Vermont as a student at Saint Michael’s College. He’s been at Smugglers’ for 17 years and on sunny March days he’s easy to find up on Madonna Mountain skiing down FIS. Stan loves his perennial garden during the other seasons of the year and has quite a green thumb.

Janet Writer
Originally from Pennsylvania, Janet came to Vermont in 1972 to find Winter fun. She met her husband Dean and they settled in nearby Fletcher. Their 24-year-old son, James, learned to ski at Smuggs with his mother as an instructor. Janet taught skiing for several years before moving to the Vacation Ownership department. After 13 years she loves meeting with interesting people and helping them plan their future vacations. Dean recently retired from IBM and now teaches tennis in our Summer program.

Nancy Archambault
Nancy, a native Vermonter began her Smugglers’ career in the Owner Services department more than five years ago. He lives in the small village of Hardwick, 35 miles from work but says, “Where else can you take a lunch break, go out for a ski in some of the most picturesque scenery in the country and come back to work with a total attitude change?” Outside of work, Tracy loves to sail his boat on Lake Champlain, canoe and fish in the Summer and ski in the Winter. He also spends much of his time working in his recording studio, composing and pre-producing works including the popular “Coming Back Home Again songs from Smugglers’ Notch”.
