Smugglers’ Notch Resort launches new weeklong overnight summer camp
Smugglers' Notch Resort in Vermont is introducing Camp Smuggs, a new weeklong supervised overnight camp integrated into the Resort's award-winning children's programs and other Resort activities. Camp Smuggs is for children ages 9-14.
Campers will enjoy a full 7 day/6 night residential camp experience, taking part in the Resort's Summer Fun University children’s programs during the day. Depending on a camper’s interests, daytime camp programs may include activities involving arts and crafts, nature experiences, games, or stage performance, in addition to enjoying the Resort’s pools, waterslides, and mountain reservoir.
In the evening, campers head to a home setting in one of the Resort's fully appointed five-bedroom mountainside condominiums. Five to eight children of the same age grouping and gender will share a home with two of the Resort's trained counselors, who will act as house parents for the kids. The counselors will supervise their group's "family time" in the evening and overnight. On one night during the week, campers will head to the Resort Base Lodge for an overnight campout complete with s'mores and storytelling around the campfire.
"Camp Smuggs provides a unique experience for kids in many ways," says Dave Farrell, the camp program supervisor. "The campers are getting the key ingredients of a traditional camp program―fun, friends, outdoor activities—combined with the renowned programming and top amenities of a resort. The experiences will be broad; this is not just a sports camp or special interest camp, so the opportunities are wide open for new adventures. And where else can kids enjoy sleep-away camp with a beautiful mountainside condominium as their home base?"
The experience includes mountainside lodging; daytime participation in the Resort’s award-winning full day children’s programs; a full meal plan that provides breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks; and a special overnight activity. The cost is $950 for the week, plus service charge. (There are four sessions of Camp Smuggs to choose from: July 11-17, July 18-24, July 25-31 and August 1-7. All sessions run Sunday through Saturday.)
