Location Smugglers' Notch, a year round mountain vacation resort on 3,000 acres, is located 30 miles east of the Burlington International Airport and five miles south of Jeffersonville on Route 108. The Resort is easily reached from Boston (225 miles), New York City (342 miles), and Montreal (91 miles). Transportation Air - Direct flights to Burlington International Airport via USAirways, United Airlines, Allegiant, Delta and Jet Blue. Train - Amtrak service from New York, Philadelphia and other cities to Essex Junction, VT, a 40-minute drive from the Resort. Transfers - Smugglers' arranges shuttles for plane/train passengers with advance reservations. Car rentals available at the airport. Season 2015 Summer programs available from June 5 through August 30. The Resort Village Smugglers' Notch Resort offers a complete mountain Village with convenient restaurants, lounges, entertainment, sport shop, outdoor tennis courts (clay and hard), Courtside Pool, Mountainside Pool, Rum Runners' Hideaway reservoir, Notchville Park pool, splash pad and recreation area, playgrounds, disc golf courses, meeting facilities, U.S. Post Office, a real estate office, a country store, TREASURES child care center, a welcome and reservation center, and two teen centers. All Village amenities are within 450 yards, a short walk or shuttle ride of one another. Resort Lodging All accommodations are mountainside condominiums ranging from studios to five bedroom townhouses with fully-equipped living spaces and kitchens. Lodgings and facilities are all located in the walkabout Village. A free on-demand shuttle service also runs daily throughout the Village. Mountains and Waters Mountains - Morse, Sterling, and Madonna Mountains in the Green Mountain chain rise to a 3610' elevation from the Village. Historic Smugglers' Notch pass is an interesting drive; the Long Trail, a hiking path through the entire length of Vermont, crosses Madonna for easy access.
Waters - Smugglers' has four water playgrounds with eight pools and four waterslides. Mountainside Pool: The Giant Rapid River Ride, the Turtle Slide, Little Smugglers' Lagoon, bathhouse, snack bar, and sun decks. Courtside Pool: The Flume Waterslide, wading pool, Olympic-sized pool, two 14-person jacuzzi tubs, bathhouse and snack center. Rum Runners' Hideaway: 10-acres of natural water, Fidget Ladder, Aqua Jump, fishing, canoe and paddleboat rentals, picnic pavilion and changing room, with spectacular mountain views. Notchville Park: A family playground amidst towering maples with the Giant Swing, Raven's Roost Climbing Tower, 3 terraced pools with nearly 5000 square feet of water area, Peregrine's Picnic Pavilion, sand volleyball court, croquet, tumbling brook, frog pond, and bathhouse. Notchville also features the Twister, a 140' body flume waterslide, and Splashville, a splash pad playground filled with features such as water misters and sprays, pulsating fountains and a cheerful yellow duckie waterslide sized for youngsters. Splashville's 2200 square feet of play space will delight and refresh little ones and their parents on summer days.
New for Summer 2015, Bootlegger's Basin will offer another freshwater swimming locale for Smugglers' guests, along with playing fields and picnic facilities.
The Village Pond and Sterling Pond provide great trout fishing, and the Lamoille River & Lake Champlain (the "Sixth Great Lake") are nearby. Programs and Activities Children are invited to join in the daily Summer Fun University programs included in the FamilyFest and Adventure Connection Vacation Packages: Discovery Dynamos (for 3-4 year olds), Trail Blazers (5-6), Adventure Rangers (7-10), the Notch Squad (11-15), and Mountain Explorers (16-17).
New for Summer 2015, families visiting Smugglers' will find a fun activity to enjoy together from 10 am to about 7 pm daily. Many of these activities are package inclusions, like an agility dog demo, sock puppet making, family nature walks, creature feature with a naturalist, giant lawn games, singalongs, and arts and crafts. Other activities supported by guides and equipment availability, like family mountain biking and paddleboarding clinics, are fee-based.
Following a mountain brook from high above Smugglers' Notch Resort Village, the ArborTrek Zip Line Canopy Tour at Smugglers' descends through mature stands of hemlock, white birch, and sugar maple. The 2 1/2 to 3-hour tour includes riding down more than 4,500 feet of zip lines, crossing sky bridges, and rappeling from trees, offering a memorable and thrilling experience for ages 8 and older. (The tour is included in the Adventure Connections Vacation Package.)
ArborTrek is also the site for the Treetop Obstacle Course. This self-guided adventure, also known as an aerial trekking or high ropes course, combines the thrill of being above the ground with a series of elements that test participants' balance, strength and agility. Following completion of a ground school, trekkers are provided the opportunity to explore a variety of different course areas rated from easy to difficult!
Other unique fee-based programs include fishing and paddling adventures, health and wellness offerings, arts and crafts classes, and more. Special Facilities TREASURES Child Care Center - A 5400' modern center for youngsters six weeks to three years old with special parent and kid-friendly features such as three age-appropriate playrooms, a fenced adjacent playground, and dedicated parking. Playgrounds for all ages - Four playground sites scattered around the Resort are fitted with play structures for kids between the ages of six months and 12 years. They include the TREASURES Playground at the day care center, the Secret Playground near the Courtside Pool, the Pirate Ship Playground near the Mountainside Pool and the Big Kid's Park nestled among the condominium clusters. Three additional playgrounds are located in condominium neighborhoods for use by those guests. Two Teen Centers: Teen Alley for ages 13-15 and Outer Limits for ages 16 and older. Pricing Basics For a family of four, Smugglers' Summer 2015 family vacations start at $260 per night for a stay in a mountainside one-bedroom condominium. Pricing is determined by the length of the stay, the rate period, and the size of the condominium. In addition to lodging, packages include unlimited use of Smugglers' pools, waterslides, and hot tubs; use of the FunZone Family Recreation Center; daily guided hiking and walking treks; and special activities and entertainment for families and adults. Additional programs are available that are fee-based.
Vacation deposits are refunded on cancellations received seven or more days prior to the guest's scheduled arrival.
