| The scoop: A vacation is all about relaxation, and Smugglers’ Notch Resort offers guests many perfect opportunities to unwind and rejuvenate in health and wellness workshops.
For fitness buffs, yoga classes are available five days of the week and are appropriate for all levels. An introductory Pilates class is also available. Smugglers’ Stretch & Go morning outings have long been popular with guests. Stretch & Go 1 incorporates the use of Nordic Walking poles twice weekly to increase the cardiovascular benefits of this brisk walking adventure. Stretch & Go 2 offers the same combination of stretching and walking at a more moderate pace.
Guests interested in massage may visit the Mountain Massage Center for a relaxing or invigorating session, or enroll in a class to learn the basics from Smugglers’ staff of massage therapists. Several wellness workshops promote relaxation and soothing body care. Experiencing the techniques of meditation, aromatherapy and foot reflexology also offer guests the opportunity to pamper themselves. Herbalists from the local Purple Shutter Herbs lead classes on herbal facials, spicing up your table with herbal condiments, and the many uses of honey for skin scrubs, candles and salves.
The buzz: "Vacations are all about finding "ahhhhhhhhh" moments to savor. Our health and wellness classes help guests do just that!" –Stacey Comishock, activities operations supervisor
"Sometimes it’s a lot easier to try something new on vacation that you just don’t have time to try at home. We’ve chosen to offer these activities because we feel there’s something to entice everyone." –Marge McIntosh, program development director |
