It's All About the Parks: Skiers and Riders Find Excitement and Fun in Smugglers' Terrain Parks

-Progression parks serve beginner through expert levels
-Instructional programs provide everyone with the skills to enjoy terrain parks at Smuggs
-New features constructed this season for all parks

The scoop:
Terrain parks geared to differing levels of ability are enticing more and more kids, moms and dads, and recreational skiers and riders into playing in the parks. Smugglers' Notch Resort offers a step-up progression that begins with a modest level of difficulty and leads through several parks towards big air.

The Jib & Jump Park at Morse Highlands, Smugglers' park for novices, is now in its third season. The park is situated on the Log Jam trail at Morse Highlands to offer a wide trail and long run, as well as snowmaking capability. The park hosts a fun box, mini-pipe, rolls and a wide assortment of low level hits.

Kids 6-15 years old anxious to learn from professionals how to really play in this park can join the Jibs & Jumps Ski and Snowboard Camp. The day long program focuses on the features of this park where experienced Snow Sport University Guides demonstrate and then coach how the kids can take their skills from the mountain slopes and put them into play in the freestyle arena.

For intermediate snow sports enthusiasts the Birch Run Terrain Park on Sterling Mountain is the next step. This 1200 foot long run covers two acres with rails, hits, and ramps. Park lovers can also visit the Half-pipe on Madonna Mountain for intermediate and advanced hits.

The Zone on Sterling Mountain is fitted with hits, rails, and ramps, all of a larger and more impressive nature than those offered in the other parks. Beginning in January, Altitude Adjustment events on selected Saturdays throughout the season give participants a chance to show their prowess and win prizes in front of crowds of bystanders. These events take place at the Zone from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

The buzz:
- "Our terrain parks placed eighth nationally in the 2007 SKI Magazine reader survey ... how's that for buzz?!"
-Bob Mulcahy, Smugglers' president

-"The gentle yet fun features at the Jib & Jump terrain park make this area perfect for trying out park features in a non-threatening setting."
-Peter Ingvoldstad, Snow Sport University director

-"Smuggs’ Slammin’ Saturdays events in The Zone and at the Half-pipe give skiers and riders of all ages and ability levels a chance to win cool prizes - just for having tons of fun!" -Whitney Widger, Smugglers' promotions coordinator
