Together with Flaik GPS technology, Smugglers’ Notch Resort is offering all students in its Snow Sport University all-day ski and snowboard camps (ages 3-15) a way to capture their on-mountain fun. When they enroll in an SSU program, the kids will be outfitted with Flaik GPS units at no extra fee. Adults in the Mountain Experience camp will also enjoy free use of the GPS systems. The GPS will track the miles, vertical and trails skied each day and cumulatively. The skier or rider can log on après ski to review the data with friends and family to share their on-mountain experience and plan adventures for the next day. Flaik GPS rentals will also be available for $19.95 per day at 3 Mountain Equipment.
Smugglers’ Snow Sport University director Harley Johnson saw firsthand how useful and fun the Flaik GPS could be when she participated in the Helly Hansen Big Mountain Battle at Smugglers’ last year. As her team negotiated mountain checkpoints as part of the competition, their gps tracked their route, mileage and speed, and she immediately began thinking of its applications for Smugglers’ snow sports program. Harley says, “By offering a Flaik GPS for day use as an inclusion in our children’s all-day programs, parents will be able to see how their kids spent their day on the hill during their family vacation at Smuggs. What a great way to initiate family conversations about the ski day and relive the day’s experiences!”
