Expert’s tip: Thumpers

Frequently, skiers have problems shifting their weight from one ski to the other so that they can link turns. A great way to help make this shift is to pick up the uphill ski in a traverse and tap the ski tip three times before you turn. The third tap is the cue to step onto the uphill ski, and start to steer that ski into the fall line.

Mini Mites
Ages 3 - 6 years for skiing and snowboarding

Our Mini Mites offers your child 8 days of our award-winning Discovery Dynamos camp program (3-4 year olds) or Trail Blazers (5-6 year olds) on either Saturdays or Sundays. Our specially trained instructors encourage skiing or snowboarding development for all abilities and build confidence through innovative teaching techniques.

We've teamed with Vermont's Burton Snowboards to develop the next generation of the Burton Riglet Park, an on-snow play area on the Resort’s Sir Henry’s Learning Hill with fun terrain features designed for introducing young children to snowboarding. The park’s focal point is a “treehouse,” an elevated platform with ramps that children can ride down, a balance area inside the treehouse and a lift chair that swings to help kids practice getting on and off the lift. Playing in the park on small rolling hills, miniature box-style rails, pyramids and a mini-halfpipe allows children to gain the necessary balance and muscle memory to begin sliding and making turns on sloped terrain.

Each day the program starts at 9:00 am in the Meeting House, includes lunch, and runs until 4:00 pm, with an indoor entertainment program offered during the last two hours of the day.

Saturday session starts January 3, 2015
$539 for the season, or $608 including equipment lease. (Excludes 1/17/15 & 2/14/15)

Sunday session starts January 4, 2015
$539 for the season, or $608 including equipment lease. (Excludes 1/18/15 & 2/15/15)

Mom & Me... Dad & Me

In this unique 5-week program, a parent teams up with one of our expert instructors to teach their child how to ski or ride. Sessions are held on five consecutive Saturdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon or 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. This program also includes rental equipment for the child during the session only. The child must be a first-time skier or snowboarder, and Mom or Dad must be an intermediate level or better skier or rider.

Choose from two 5-session Saturday programs starting January 3, 2015 (excluding 1/17/15; select morning or afternoon session) or starting February 21, 2015 (morning session only available). $239 for the season or $169 if parent is a Pass or Badge holder.
Smugglers' Notch 55+ Club
For seniors on the hill, not over the hill!

Now in its 21st year, Smugglers 55+ Club is for seniors who like to ski (alpine or nordic), snowboard, snowshoe, and enjoy being with their peers. Non-skiers are welcome, too. Our goal is simple: get out of the four walls, break the daily routine, meet people and be active.

We gather every Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Village Lodge for socializing and refreshments followed at 9:30 am with a meeting. We will conclude no later than 10:00 am for outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, Nordic or Alpine skiing. Skiing in the morning depends on the weather, snow and trail conditions. It can include video skiing and time trials. One may join a skill level group or ski on your own.

We then have an afternoon program begin at 2:00 pm unless otherwise announced during the morning meeting.

Every Wednesday we will be SKIING IN THE MORNING.

Meetings: 9:00 am on Wednesdays at the Village Lodge starting the first Wednesday in December.
Membership: $30/year (Your first meeting is complimentary – come and check us out!)

You can register for any of these programs on our Season Passes & Bash Badges page, or call the Ski & Ride Division at 1-800-523-2754.
