Early morning groom on Sir Henry’s Learning Hill and Lower Morse Liftline

We received 2 to 3 inches of new snow overnight and 14 inches in the past 5 days. Today’s forecast is light snow with another inch of accumulation possible and temperatures between 16 and 26 degrees. Last night we made snow on Lower Madonna Liftline, Mulcahy’s Link, McPherson’s, and Playground. Today we plan to continue snowmaking on McPherson’s and Playground. We have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I lift with 53 trails open and terrain for all ability levels. Currently it is 17 degrees at the summit of Sterling with light snow and winds of 0 to 5 mph.

  1. Hi Hugh, will be up there in two weeks! Just curious, why are only 53 trails open if there has been 14 inches of fresh snow in the last several days? Thanks!

    • Dear Mark,
Last Friday we received about an inch of rain along with warm temperatures and wind. We were down to 23 trails open. The water running down the slopes made some holes in places and need to be filled. The trail count continues to climb back up. We are also making snow around the clock to get as much terrain open as possible. Most of the closed trails are lower glades, double blacks, and triple black.

  3. Sounds good – didn’t realize the Friday weather had been that impactful! The remainder of the month’s forecast looks promising – thanks!
