Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. What a difference a week makes. Since I last reported here, we’ve received 21 inches of snow, and that’s in addition to our snowmaking efforts! Speaking of which, Upper FIS will be closed today for more snowmaking. You also need to know that parts of Black Snake and all of Snake Bite will be closed today for a Ski Race, but they will be completely open by 2 pm. I’m glad to report that it will be a good day to ski/ride with 60 available trails and a forecast of partly sunny skies and a high of 29 degrees.

Today we have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I lift. We now have 69 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 25 trails have been groomed for today, including Black Snake, Sam’s Run, and Mulcahy’s Link for a grand total of 112 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Yesterday we made snow on Black Snake, Snake Bite, and the Practice Slope. Last night we made snow on Upper Chilcoot. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 14 to 50 inches. Surface conditions will change with today’s warmer temperatures. Currently, it is cloudy and 31 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for a chance of snow early becoming mix with rain later and a high of 41 degrees.

Mini Mites and Mitey Mites start this weekend.

The L.L. Bean bootmobile is here at Smuggs as part of their Bootmobile Mountain Tour! The original Bean Boots were designed to help people enjoy the outdoors — and so were their larger-than-life mobile replicas. Their two Bootmobiles have covered more than 350,000 miles, appeared at hundreds of events in 25 states, two countries and dozens of college campuses.

Swing by the Boot to grab some photos, play games, win swag, and have a chance to win a $300 L.L. Bean gift card. They are on-snow, right by the Gazebo! Both Saturday and Sunday this weekend from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm.
