If you build it they will come

pond constructionThe Zone Terrain Park is being transformed from big hits to a big pond. Our terrain park crew is busy moving snow to get ready from the 3rd Annual Pond Skimming being held this Saturday, April 4th. This event just screams fun! Prizes will be awarded for best costume and most spectacular landing. Registration starts at 10 am at the Yurt in Parking Lot 1 and the entertainment starts at noon. The pond skimming is only a part of the festivities on Saturday, because there is also the Chillin’ and Grillin’ Tailgate Party in Parking Lot 1. Smuggs will be awarding 2,5oo dollars in prizes and cash to the winners of the following categories best overall tailgate (food, flair, festive, and fun), best original recipe (main dish, side dish, and drink), and best Smuggs themed tailgate. This is a don’t miss event for sure! We have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, including the Madonna I lift. We have 73 out of 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. We are also expecting another 1 to 2 inches of new snow tonight.

Getting groovy

groovyThe spring skiing and riding is fantastic. The groomed trails were nice this morning. I did a cruiser on Upper Chilcoot carving some GS turns. I could feel the snow getting softer as I worked my way down the mountain. I ran into Mike McAdoo from Smuggs Terrain Parks a.k.a. Gravity Control and he was inspecting the pond he built. The 2nd Annual Pond Skimming is tomorrow Saturday, April 5. He told me that this year’s pond is even longer than last year’s. The event starts at noon and spectators are welcome.
