Black Bear Tavern Après Sport Party – The location for Upper Mountain off-slope fun! Check out the expanded draft line-up featuring Otter Creek. Beginning at 2:00 pm, Jammin’ Sam plays guitar and sings. It’s a great place to meet other riders and skiers and some of the locals. Ages 21 & older.

Maple Sugar Festival at the Boyden Valley Winery
The Boyden Valley Winery will host a variety of special activities from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm including sugar on snow, maple syrup sample tastings, and winery tours at 11:30 am and 1:00 pm (tours suitable for all ages). There will also be featured tastings of the winery’s Vermont Maple Reserve, Gold Leaf wine, and Vermont Ice Maple Crème liqueur. Plenty to satisfy your sweet tooth also – donuts with maple cream, mini cupcakes and more. Stay for Lunch with Smokin’ Butts Barb-B-Que and receive a half price voucher for a glass of hard cider to enjoy along with your meal! The Boyden Valley Winery is conveniently located at the junction of Routes 104 and 15 in Cambridge, just 7 miles from Smugglers’ Notch! Free parking, no admission fee. Maple Open House Weekend – This weekend is Vermont’s official celebration of our state’s maple sugaring heritage, when when sugarmakers across the state open their doors to visitors with tours and an array of maple products for sale. Use Smugglers’ as your home base to visit maple sugarhouses! For a listing of open sugarhouses around the state visit vermontmaple.org

Blast From the Past Race – The Smugglers’ Notch Ski & Snowboard Club invites skiers (21 & over) to bash gates and relive their glory days with a qualifying GS course beginning at 9:30 am (two runs; best run of two) followed by a pro-style dual SL course for the top 16 men and the top 8 women. The equipment doesn’t have to be “old,” just the racers. Hamburger/hot dog barbecue and beverages included in the entry fee of $35. Registration takes place from 7:30 am – 9:00 am; inspection from 8:15 am – 9:15 am.

Smuggs Friendly Freeride Competition – Come to the 3rd annual Smuggs Friendly Freeride competition for skiers and snowboarders age 14 & under! Our goal is to give first timers and inexperienced competitors a low cost, low pressure opportunity to try out our awesome sport! Our more experienced young rippers are welcome to play too, the more the merrier. The venue will be on Full Nelson and athletes will take one competition run. Following the competition we will host a potluck in our Clubhouse. Bring a dish or snack food to share, if you are able, but it’s not required to participate. Going big in the Zone

Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for snow and sleet early with up to 3 inches of accumulation possible, then a chance of mix later in the day with temperatures between 25 and 36 degrees. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. Tonight we plan to groom 36 trails including Upper FIS, Smugglers’ Alley, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 139 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

The warmer weather that we saw today is on the way out and we have colder air moving in. The temperature has already dropped to 36 degrees at the summit of Sterling Mountain at 4 pm this afternoon. We have 38 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Our groomers will be out in force tonight. We plan to groom 38 trails, including Upper FIS, Snake Bite, and Curley’s Cutback for a grand total of 140 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with temperatures between 20 and 32 degrees.  We have many things happening this week and this weekend. Here is a list of our upcoming events:

Thursday, February 22
FamilyFun Magazine Winter CarnivalFamilyFun Magazine, Carmex® and Folgers® team up with Smugglers’ for this special Winter Carnival featuring music, face painting, games, a bonfire, and barbeque. The festivities are from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm on the Village Green! Always a family favorite hosted by Goodtime Charlie, Mogul Mouse, Billy Bob Bear, and the Friendly Pirate!

Bonfire, torchlight parade and fireworks – Join us for the fun as we light up the night sky with a bonfire, dramatic torchlight parade starring our Snow Sport University instructors, and fireworks against the backdrop of the Green Mountains! The Village Green offers a great vantage point for watching the action. 8:00 pm.
