Great conditions with more snow on the way

Hannah loves Strawberry Fields

I can’t believe that we had another blue bird day! The temperature started off a little cool, but the sun worked its magic and the temperature rose from 3 degrees to 26 degrees at the summit of Sterling throughout the day. The wind had moved the snow around some but there is plenty of light fluffy snow in the trees. My son Hugh B and daughter Hannah only had a half day of school today, so we skied together for the afternoon. We had a great time on Hangman’s Drop, Chute, Exhibition, Bootlegger woods, Alley woods, Highlander Glades, Crossover, Treasure Run, Birch Run Terrain Park, Lower Exhibition, Lower Rumrunner, Thomke’s, and Strawberry Fields. Strawberry Fields’ was amazing with the sunlight and all the fresh snow in between the trees.

Hugh B finds some nice untracked snow

We all spread out looking for fresh turns anywhere we could. We would give out a hoot and a holler every time we found freshies. We are 100 percent open with top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift and all 78 trails open. Robin’s Run is open from the work road down and Freefall is open from the traverse on Upper FIS. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for snow early 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible, a chance of some mix late in the day with temperatures between 29 and 37 degrees.

Birch Run Terrain Park

35 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Lower Catwalk, Hangman’s Drop, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 126 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

Upper Exhibition

paul liftlineIt did not take long to get spring conditions this morning. I skied a few groomers this morning and the snow was soft enough to set an edge, but not too soft. The day started pretty cloudy and the sun came out later. The summit stayed hidden in the clouds all day. I skied Upper Exhibition mid day and it had some nice soft bumps. The forecast calls for 1 to 2 inches of new snow on top tonight.
