Today was pretty wild with how it could be snowing hard one minute and then the sun would come out the next. All in all it was a great day! The 21 inches of new snow that we have received in the past 4 days has made the conditions just fantastic. The groomers are wonderful and the snow in the trees is deep. I got to take a run with Billy Bob Bear and Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate this afternoon on Snow Snake. It was great to see the kids smiling and waving at them as they went by. I also saw smiles on the parents faces too!

Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches. 38 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, that’s 146 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

We received 6 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 15 inches in the past 2 days!

Today we have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. We now 74 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches. 44 trails have been groomed for today, that’s 158 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

Weather

Currently it is snowing and 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for light snow early then partly sunny skies later with temperatures between 15 and 29 degrees.

We received 9 inches of new snow overnight with more on the way.

Today we have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. We now have 60 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. More trails may open throughout the day. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 22 to 52 inches. 33 trails have been groomed for today that’s 139 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

Currently it is snowing and 20 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is snow with another 2 to 4 inches of accumulation possible with temperatures of 23 to 32 degrees. Tonight’s forecast is also snow with another 1 to 2 inches. There is also snow in the forecast for Friday with 2 to 4 inches of accumulation possible.

Sunshine and 160 acres of freshly groomed terrain

I want to thank our grooming staff, snowmakers, and lift maintenance for all they do to provide us with the best conditions possible! Our grooming staff is out on the mountain from the time the lifts close until they reopen the next day. We even have two shifts of groomers each night to get all 3 mountains ready for your skiing and riding pleasure the next day. Our snowmakers have recently been touching up Garden Path, Lower Morse Liftline, Magic Learning Trail, and Meadowlark. The Lift Maintenance Crew provides us safe transportation to the top of all 3 mountains. Each lift is checked every morning before anyone is allowed to load the lift.

Circumhorizontal arc is formed by the refraction of sunlight through ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.

Lower Doc Dempsey’s Glades has one cat wide of groomed terrain on skier’s left

Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 20 to 50 inches. 45 trails have been groomed for today, that’s 160 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

We have 48 skiable trails and 39 lift accessible trails open today. The Madonna I lift is presently on wind hold. The Village Lift will have a slight delay due to snowmaking. We plan to have 7 lifts operating today, Sterling, Morse Highlands, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, Village, Madonna II, Sterling T-Bar, and Sir Henry’s Glider. 161 acres of freshly groomed terrain for today. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 20 to 50 inches. 161 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

Representing while you ski and ride

It was great to see all the jerseys out on the slopes today. You may have noticed that all my photos of people wearing a jersey have been Patriot’s Fans. Yes, I am also a Patriot Fan, but the reason you don’t see any Rams jerseys is because I did not see any Rams jerseys.

We are 100 percent open. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I lift. We have all 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 28 to 60 inches. 39 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Goat Path, Dixie’s Knoll, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 145 acres of freshly groomed terrain.
