Yo ho ho – we got more SNOW!

Tom like Santa

Tom from Village Services bears a striking resemblance to… let’s just say he has a Claus in his contract.

Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. Santa must have put us on his nice list, because we’ve already received 108 inches of snow this season, 26 inches in the past week, 2 inches in the past 12 hours, and more snow is on the way! Snowmakers have also had some great snowmaking temps in the past 2 months. They most recently made snow is on Madonna Mountain. 66 trails are open to today!! Here are some scenes from our Village on Christmas Day.

Getting ready for the weekend

Grooming out the snowmaking whales on Lower Morse Liftline.

I would like to thank our lift maintenance, our snowmakers, and our groomers for all their hard work so that we can have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains this weekend. Lift maintenance has been working on the Madonna I Lift and the Village Lift to get them ready to turn this Saturday and Sunday. I saw Lift Maintenance Manager Boder Stevens at the summit of Madonna today. He was getting the heaters turned on in the warming hut and the top shack. They also have to clear all the chairs and the cable of snow. Our snowmakers have also been quite busy on Morse Mountain covering Midway, Meadowlark, Lower Morse Liftline, Sam’s Run, and Garden Path.

Snowmaking continues tonight on Sam’s Run, Midway, and Meadowlark. Our groomers have been working on flattening the snowmaking whales to make the trails nice and smooth. Once the snow is pushed out we can make more snow where it is needed. This weekend we plan to have the Village Lift and Mogul Mouse Magic Lift open to the top along with the Sterling Lift, the Madonna I Lift, and Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet operating.

Madonna Impression

Madonna impressionRockin’ Ron for Hugh.

The only thing I don’t like about doing the Snow Report is having to get up so darn early. Here’s my impression of Madonna… no I’m not going to sing Papa Don’t Preach or Vogue… I’m sharing my artistic photo of the big mountain at Smuggs, affectionately known as The Mother. I never knew the difference between Monet and Manet but Madonna has always left a good impression on me. My next photo will be more in focus and I’ll be more awake.
