The End is Near!!!

6 More days left in the season before the lifts stop turning. I know, it’s a sad time for all of us. With that said, what was your favorite moment in the parks? I have to say, I really liked all the walls in Knight’s Revenge, the flat-down-flat box in Birch, the snake run in Log Jam, the drop to rollers in the Riglet Park, and the new rail in the Zone with the Donkey Kick. How about the things you didn’t like? What could we do differently next season to improve your park experience?

Hero Snow

Get up to the mountain today! The last few days have been warm and soffffft. Translation: hero snow. Get up and work on some new tricks or just refine your style– now’s the time! The sloppy snow makes butters and presses very easy to manage. Try them out in the flats first, then put them on the Butter Box. Next, bring them to a longer feature like any of the other boxes in Birch Run, but remember, the sharper your edge, the more likely you become to catch your edge in the process.

Molly Rowlee Rail Jam Tomorrow!

Join us once again for our annual Molly Rowlee Rail jam hosted by the Molly Fund, which supports families with children undergoing treatment for cancer. The event will be held in the Zone starting at 2:00 pm and registration will be held in the base lodge from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm. This is sure to be a fun event, and the weather looks nice and springy, and there will be plenty of things for folks of all ages to do, so don’t miss it!!

Riglet Park

For all of you out there, with little ones (3-6 year olds), interested in getting them out on a snowboard for the first time, Saturday may be the perfect day to sign them up for a session at Riglet Park. The sun is supposed to shine and the temps are going to be in the 40′s. Perfect weather for their first experience on a board!

You may have noticed a bearded man hiding in the trees in any of our parks. This is completely normal. His name is Chris Diegel and he is completely dedicated to capturing your stoke on film…or should I say microchip. Check out his photos here or by visiting his page listed below. Greg Fatigate on Knight’s Revenge

Today was a great day! Loads of new snow in the past week and tonight’s storm seemed to come a little early! That left the parks in great shape all throughout the day. Fatigate has a few things to say about Knight’s Revenge now that it’s back open with all this new snow. Check it out:

It’s been super cool to see all the tracks in Knight’s Revenge since it’s been open again. All the wall rides have been getting hit, all the rails & jumps are getting lots of traffic, and people have been finding a few of the “hidden” things. Fortunately my favorite “hidden” thing has yet to be found

Personally, if I were a Facebooker, I would “like” the wall rides. In case you have not seen, there are three of them in that park. As the landings of the other features get beat up, look for the walls.

If you have never hit a wall ride before, here’s a bit of advice: Go slow at first, and just go up it, and back down fakie. In other words, don’t even try turning on the wall.

The Knight’s Revenge park will always be best on a powder day, so if it’s beat, go check out Birch Run or the Zone. In other words, when the snow falls, (and it has) get some!

Free Never Summer Demo and BLOWER Pow!

This Sunday get up to the hill and demo some Never Summer boards for free! In case you haven’t ridden one, these boards are super sick. Never Summer’s Rocker-Camber Technology is the answer to all things pertaining to East Coast pow. Stability at high speeds and floats through pow effortlessly! If you don’t believe me, get out to the Madonna base lodge starting at 9 on Sunday morning. That’s what’s up. Check out their site here

New update

Rick and Mike are working on some new jumps in the Zone. Stay tuned for updates and photos. The flat-down-flat box in Birch Run is awesome, and once we get some more snow in there, the hip can be re-constructed. Speaking of new snow, there’s a big nor’easter on the way (in case you’ve been living in a hole). Expect to ride sick pow Friday and Saturday. On a side note: when it snows a lot, the park isn’t always the best place to be. Get out and find some natural features to get creative on. All the new snowmaking in the last week has led to quite a few walls and lips on the sides of the groomers that tend to collect snow and make for great slashers. Start there and let your creativity take you away to a blissful state of shred.
