Elf Tuck-In! Thrill your little ones with a special bit of holiday magic, bedtime stories, and treats. Our Smugglers' Elf will read them Christmas tales as they excitedly await Santa's arrival. Available on the half-hour between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. 22nd Annual BrewFest, Part 1 - You're in the right place — Vermont has the highest number of breweries per capita. Our BrewFest highlights some of our state's excellent breweries plus regional favorites and craft ciders. Enjoy samples from Sam Adams, Truly, Angry Orchard Cider, Blue Point, Goose Island, Shock Top, Citizens Cider,
as well as Sierra Nevada, and Stella Artois breweries. If your tastes run closer to home, don't miss samples from Vermont's own Switchback, Traveler, Woodchuck Cider, Magic Hat, Shed, Otter Creek, Long Trail, Harpoon, Zero Gravity, and Von Trapp. More breweries are being added; stay tuned!

A DJ spins the tunes and the Mountain Grille puts on a tasty appetizer buffet. 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm in the Meeting House. Tickets are available at the door; $20 entry includes 8 samples, munchies, and a souvenir sampling glass. 21 & older, please. Light Up The Night, Winter Solstice Celebration - Join us in the greeting area from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm for this special event to light up the longest night of the year as we welcome our 60th Winter with open arms! We'll be celebrating with Cirque De Fuego-- Vermonts premiere fire performers, live drum performance from Jeh Kulu Drum Theater, music, and of course, a bonfire with s'mores, hot chocolate and hot apple cider! With 60 inches of snow so far this Fall and still counting, were ready to light up the night and start Winter out with a bang!

Santa's Arrival, Torchlight Parade & Fireworks!
7:00 pm
— Join Goodtime Charlie at the Gazebo for rounds of holiday carols and watch for the arrival of that kindly old gentleman from the North. Enjoy a spectacular visual as our Snow Sport University faculty light up lower Morse Mountain on skis and snowboards, combined with the Fireworks Grand Finale. Best viewing is at the Gazebo. Immediately following the fireworks Santa will be joining us for a few carols, cookies, and smiles in the lower level of the Meeting House.

9:00 pm — Multi-denominational Christmas Eve Service Children get a front row seat for a lively children's story. Share in the fellowship, carol singing, and warm glow of the candlelight. In the lower level of the Meeting House. All faiths are welcome.

World's Largest Ski/Snowboard Lesson - Smugglers' is delighted to again be a part of this fun event, sponsored by the folks who bring National Learn To Ski and Snowboard Month to life in January. All over the country, participating resorts will organize a lesson at 10:00 am. In addition to attracting newbies to snow sports in a fun way, this group effort will try to set a new Guinness World Record for largest ski and snowboard lesson. Details will be available at the activities desk; preregistration is required as participation is limited. Please call our Ski & Ride Desk at 1-800-523-2754. Raffle prizes and a Snow Sport University promotional coupon for participants to continue their ski or ride skills development!

WinterFest - Our community celebrates Winter with a variety of events for all ages! At Smugglers', there's a 5K cross country ski ramble on Saturday hosted by the Nordic Center, followed by light snacks. Cross country ski equipment can be rented at the Nordic Center.

Activities in the local area: children's storytime, Pie for Breakfast, lasagna dinner, bonfire, balloon glow, an outdoor adventure dinner hosted by the Boy Scouts, fireworks, a hot chocolate road race, junior snowmobiles and sledding. Events are subject to change; all events weather permitting.

Winter Trails Day at Smugglers' Notch Resort. - This annual celebration of snowshoeing and cross country skiing is free for novices and nationally sponsored by the Snow Sports Industries of America to encourage newcomers to these winter sports. Pre-registration has been available online. Smugglers' Nordic Center will offer short instructional sessions from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm for first time snowshoers; please note that cross country ski sessions will not be available on this day due to current conditions. Snowshoe rentals and trail access for first timers are free. For more info, contact activities director Stacey Comishock at (802) 644-8544.

Bonfire, torchlight parade and fireworks - Join us for the fun as we light up the night sky with a bonfire, dramatic torchlight parade starring our Snow Sport University instructors, and fireworks against the backdrop of the Green Mountains! The Village Green offers a great vantage point for watching the action. 8:00 pm.

Extreme Skiing Challenge - The Smugglers' Notch Ski and Snowboard Club hosts this fun event — an opportunity for junior and adult freeskiers to show their stuff on some of the most difficult terrain Smugglers' Notch has to offer! The course is planned for the Madonna headwall, an ungroomed steep with a double fall line descent filled with cliffs, bumps, trees, chutes, and stumps. Competitors will be judged on line, control, fluidity, technique, and style.

The Extreme Skiing Challenge is IFSA (Juniors 18 yrs old & under) and FWQ2* (19 yrs old +) sanctioned allowing Eastern skiers to garner ranking and seeding points in these competitive series. NEW this year, the Extreme Skiing Challenge is part of the 6-stop Ski The East Freeride Tour. $45 entry fee (includes t-shirt) and $39 lift ticket available. The field will be capped at 100 competitors.

If taking on the headwall isn't your thing, why not come out to watch the action? As the competitors run the course on the headwall from just below Catwalk to just above Madonna midstation, the best seats in the house for watching the excitement will be on the Madonna summit lift. Spectators also can view from a roped off area at the Red Fox Glades near the finish area at the base of the Madonna headwall, easily accessed from midstation.

Molly Fund Benefit Rail Jam - This special rail jam benefits the Molly Rowlee Fund, which supports families with children undergoing treatment for cancer. This is the fifth year at Smuggs for this event, and it promises to again be awesome - come out and have some fun and support this great cause! The good times include music, giveaways, and a raffle. Smugglers' Notch Ski & Snowboard Club — SNSC is hosting the annual George Tormey Challenge. This U12 and U14 event is for the athletes who didn't qualify for state championships. These skiers want to keep the season going! Come see athletes ages 10 to 13 race Duel Giant Slalom on Saturday and Duel Panel Slalom on Sunday. The head-to-head runoff will earn the top 16 plenty of bragging rights!

Maple Open House Weekend - This weekend is Vermont's official celebration of our state's maple sugaring heritage, when when sugarmakers across the state open their doors to visitors with tours and an array of maple products for sale. Blast From the Past Race - The Smugglers' Notch Ski & Snowboard Club invites skiers (21 & over) to bash gates and relive their glory days with a qualifying GS course beginning at 9:30 am (two runs; best run of two) followed by a pro-style dual SL course for the top 16 men and the top 8 women. The equipment doesn't have to be "old," just the racers. Hamburger/hot dog barbecue and beverages included in the entry fee of $35. Registration takes place from 7:30 am - 9:00 am; inspection from 8:15 am - 9:15 am. It's the 21st year of Blast from the Past - come celebrate!

6th Annual Pond Skimming - Elvis, a gorilla, guys in bikinis — you'll see it all in the Zone Terrain Park during pond skimming! Registration for this free event starts at 10:00 am in the Madonna/Sterling Base Lodge and the first skimmer launches toward the pond at 12:00 noon. Prizes awarded for best costume. A "don't miss" for spectators!

Chillin' & Grillin' Annual Tailgate Party - Blue skies, long sunny afternoons ... ahhhh, Spring! Chillin' & Grillin' brings together our mountain community in a celebratory summit of the parking lot parties that go on all season long in Parking Lot 1. Awards of cash and prizes to winners of the following categories:
   • Best Overall Tailgate(Food/Flair/Festive/Fun)
   • Best Original Recipe (Main dish/Side dish/Drink)
   • Best Smuggs-themed Tailgate

22nd Annual BrewFest Part 2 - Sample the finest in craft beers and regional favorites, plus ciders! A DJ spins the tunes and the Resort's Mountain Grille puts on a tasty appetizer buffet, plus munchies and prizes. From 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm in the Meeting House. Tickets are available at the door. $20 entry includes 8 samples and a souvenir sampling glass. 21 & older, please. Weekend activities feature alpine touring, avalanche training, demos, trade displays, and on mountain course treks. This event is free and on a first-come first-served basis.
