Smugglers' Notch Resort presents the Gateway to Nature
A program promoting experiential learning about the natural world.
Our Mission The mission of the Smugglers' Notch Gateway to Nature is to create an opportunity for our Resort Homeowners and their families, Resort guests, and local Vermonters of all ages including students from elementary, middle and high schools, technical and career centers and colleges to come together to learn, experience, work and play. We will work towards the preservation of plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life in the Smugglers' Notch region by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. Further, we will educate on how to live, creating as small an environmental footprint as possible.
Our Approach We will determine specific pieces of undeveloped land that buffer Smugglers' Notch Resort and work to protect and manage them. Additionally, we will offer educational programming and recreational opportunities that take place on the identified land that supports our mission.
The Gateway to Nature's Initiatives The Gateway will have three priority initiatives:
Developing and implementing educational programming that will be based on preserving our present flora and fauna's environment.
Building an environmentally sensitive facility on the preserved land that will serve as a gateway to experiences and learning. This facility will act as a demonstration model for environmentally friendly building concepts and construction techniques that can be used elsewhere.
Protecting the identified land.
Support Gateway to Nature is a 501c(3) non-profit with financial support through donations and volunteer support by Resort Homeowners and staff, as well as others from northern Vermont.
