Smugglers' Notch Vermont - Fact Sheets

Winter 2011-2012 Terrain Parks

Fact Sheet on Terrain Parks
Winter 2011 - 2012

Smugglers' Notch Resort offers terrain parks for all levels of ability.

On Sterling Mountain, Birch Run Terrain Park offers entry level and intermediate snowboarders and skiers the opportunity to test their skills when ready. The 1200-foot run covers two acres with table tops, rolls, rails, hits, and spines. The Zone on Sterling's Practice Slope features hits, rails and fun box for expert riders accessible via the Sterling t-bar.

On Madonna Mountain, Prohibition Park on the intermediate Playground trail features rails and jumps for intermediate skiers and riders.

Log Jam Terrain Park is a novice terrain park on the Log Jam Trail at Morse Highlands, and features plenty of space for rails and hits. Log Jam offers a wide trail and long run with snowmaking capability.

NEW! Little snowboarders get their own learning and play park! Smugglers' has been working with Vermont's Burton Snowboards to develop the next generation of the Burton Riglet Park, an on-snow play area with fun terrain features designed for introducing young children to snowboarding. The park's focal point is a "treehouse," an elevated platform with ramps that children can ride down, a balance area inside the treehouse and a lift chair that swings to help kids practice getting on and off the lift. Playing in the park on small rolling hills, miniature box-style rails, pyramids and a mini-halfpipe allows children to gain the necessary balance and muscle memory to begin sliding and making turns on sloped terrain. The park is located at the Resort's Sir Henry's Learning Area with conveyor lift access.

On select weekends check out Gravity Control at The Zone, an open big air or slopestyle competition on Sterling Mountain's Practice Slope with music, prizes, and demos for intermediate to expert snowboarding levels. Prizes are distributed through a raffle system (not ranked) and include CDs, snowboard equipment, shirts, hats, and food products.
