Season
Ski and snowboard season is late November 2016 to mid-April 2017.
Mountains
Three interconnected mountains comprise northern Vermont's biggest vertical drop at 2,610'. Skiers and snowboarders are welcome on all trails. Morse Mountain, the beginners' haven, rises directly out of the Resort Village. Sterling Mountain's terrain appeals especially to intermediates, while Madonna Mountain is the expert skiers' mountain.

Off the slopes, outdoor winter adventure opportunities can be found at Smugglers' Nordic Adventure Center for cross-country ski and snowshoe enthusiasts and on the ArborTrek year-round canopy tour featuring eight zip lines plus suspension bridges and rappels.
Snowfall
Smugglers' Notch averages 278" of snow per season (based on a eight year average through winter 2015/2016).
Snowmaking
Snowmaking covers 62% of total terrain. Smugglers' fleet of more than 400 snowmaking guns provides coverage to the bulk of the Resort's beginner and intermediate terrain, with Mother Nature taking care of the glades and high elevation expert trails where natural features make snowmaking less efficient.

Smugglers has completed conversion to a fleet comprised fully of high efficiency snowguns. The high efficiency guns yield faster terrain coverage and quick refreshing of trails for the best possible onslope experience. More snow can be made at a wider temperature range, improving early and late season coverage with greatly reduced energy costs.

These snowmaking additions are part of a comprehensive effort to enhance Smugglers' snowmaking product for skiers and riders. A $3 million pipeline for water access installed prior to winter 2015/2016 supports a planned future expansion in snowmaking coverage from the current 60 percent to 80 percent coverage. That expansion will take place over the next three seasons. The pipeline project increases conservation flows at the resort's existing withdrawals.

In addition to the high efficiency guns, Smugglers' has taken other measures to increase energy efficiency and conservation in snowmaking operations. These include use of higher efficiency air compressors and more efficiently matching water demand requirements with the use of variable frequency pump drives. Snowmaking projects over the last several years include a 20 million gallon reservoir and additional pumps and guns. Grooming capabilities are enhanced by a winch cat groomer, power tiller, and Zaugg groomer to maintain and contour terrain park features.
Lifts
On Morse, The Village Lift is 5,200' long and Mogul Mouse's Magic Lift, a special low-to-the-ground beginner's chairlift, is 4,600' long. The Morse Highlands Lift is 1,400' long. The Sterling Lift is 5700', the T-Bar on Sterling is 1,300'. Madonna I is 6,600', and Madonna II is 4,700' long. Sir Henry's Learning & Fun Park on Morse also has a handle tow. Total: 6 chairs and 2 surface lifts. On Morse, two conveyor lifts service learning areas. There is an additional conveyor lift at TREASURES Child Care Center to serve the Little Rascals on Snow, a ski instruction program for toddlers.

Smugglers' famous base-to-summit Madonna 1 Lift offers 360-degree views of Canada, New Hampshire's White Mountains to the east, and Lake Champlain to the west.
Lift Hours
Three of Smugglers' lifts--one each on Morse, Sterling, and Madonna--open at 8:00 am on weekends. On weekdays, all lifts open at 9:00 am, except the Village Lift and the Sterling Summit Lift, which open at
8:30 am. All lifts close at 4:00 pm.
Trails
Smugglers' has 78 trails on 300 acres of marked and patrolled acreage. There are an additional 700 acres of unmarked and unpatrolled terrain, for a total of 1,000 acres, the largest in Vermont. The longest run is 3 miles from the Madonna summit to the Village. Popular trails include the Garden Path on Morse, and Chilcoot, FIS, Rumrunner, Treasure and Black Snake on Madonna and Sterling. The Black Hole on Madonna Mountain is the only triple black diamond trail in the East. The trail system can be broken down as follows: 19% easier, 56% intermediate, 20% expert, and 5% extreme.

Instruction and Camps
Smugglers' Snow Sport University is known for its expert instruction serving all ages and ability levels. Children's programs are divided by some of the smallest age increments in the ski industry to better serve children's learning capacity and development stages. All-day ski and snowboard camps include Discovery Dynamos (ages 3-4); Trail Blazers (ages 5-6), Adventure Rangers (ages 6-10), and the Notch Squad (ages 11-15). Ages 5 and older may also sign up for two hour instructional sessions. Mountain Explorers is for teens ages 16-20 and includes two hours of on-slope instruction at 10 am or 1 pm. For beginner boarders ages 6 to adult, Night School for Boarding is offered evenings twice weekly. Adults may enjoy group lessons, private instruction or specialty programs like the Mountain Experience daily four hour ski camp or the Women's Clinic for skiers and snowboarders. The Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Adventure Center provides snowshoe and cross country skiing instruction and outings.

Learning & Fun Parks
Sir Henry's Learning and Fun Park: Five acres on Morse Mountain make up this park, which is the site of Night School for Boarding for beginners and Night School for Jibbing on selected evenings, and a tube-sliding area.

Smugglers' was one of the first resorts to partner with Vermont's Burton Snowboards to develop the next generation of the Burton Riglet Park, an on-snow play area in the Resort Village with fun terrain features designed for introducing young children to snowboarding. The parks focal point is a "treehouse," an elevated platform with ramps that children can ride down, a balance area inside the treehouse and a lift chair that swings to help kids practice getting on and off the lift. Playing in the park on small rolling hills, miniature box-style rails, pyramids and a mini-halfpipe allows children to gain the necessary balance and muscle memory to begin sliding and making turns on sloped terrain.

The Jib and Jump Park on the Log Jam Trail on Morse Highlands offers more space for beginner features such as rolls, a table, a box, and a sculpted trail. Perfect for those new to parks and the fun offered in them!

Prohibition Park on Madonna Mountains intermediate (and aptly named!) Playground trail features rails and jumps for intermediate skiers and riders.

Knight's Revenge Gladed Park is located in intermediate glades between Lower Rumrunner and Lower Madonna Liftline. This natural feature park contains log slides, bank turns, rock jumps and more for freestyle excitement for intermediate and advanced winter enthusiasts.

Birch Run is 1,000 feet of fun on the lengthened Birch Run trail on Sterling Mountain. This trail is peppered with rails and jumps appealing to mid- to higher level park enthusiasts.

The Zone: Located on the Practice Slope on Sterling with the biggest hits and rails for expert riders.
