Smugglers' Notch Vermont - Fact Sheets
Summer Child Care 2016
Fact Sheet on TREASURES Child Care Center
Our philosophy at TREASURES Child Care Center is to provide a warm, caring environment for all children. Our program is based upon the concept that young children should be active learners and develop at their own pace. The staff of the state-licensed facility are specialists in non-recurring child care that helps children successfully transition in new surroundings.
Child care is available by the hour, day, and for multi-day periods; reservations are required. TREASURES is open daily from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Children are grouped by age from 6 weeks to 3 years. Each age group has its own developmentally appropriate learning opportunities, activities, and materials.
Fireflies (ages 6 weeks - 16 months) Fireflies enjoy the indoor floor mats, climbing structures, and object and spatial play. Outside, this age group may use swings, and look around from backpacks, strollers, and our spacious screened porch.
Little Dippers (ages 17 months - 2 1/2 years) This groups spends time together in our playhouse, listening to music, singing, arts and crafts, bubble chasing, storytelling, circle games, and quiet time. They can visit the playground and explore the Village on stroller outings.
Little Rascals (2 1/2 - 3 years) Inside these tykes enjoy circle time, singing, stories, arts and crafts, imaginative play and more. Outside they enjoy the playground, nature exploration at the reservoir, and pool time at Little Smugglers' Lagoon. This program integrates many of the Discovery Camp activities for 3-4 year olds, but at a level appropriate for toddlers still in diapers.
Child care rates in the Summer are $85 for a full day that includes lunch.
A babysitting service is managed from TREASURES with approved sitters.
TREASURES hosts a Kids' Night Out on three evenings during the Summer. This event is for youngsters aged 3-11 years old and includes dinner and fun age-grouped activities. Children must be potty trained. $30 per night per child.
Children at TREASURES can enjoy the 4,000 square foot outdoor playground with fun equipment for climbing, sliding, swinging, and imaginative play, and a covered porch for quiet games.
Our attentive and knowledgeable caregivers meet or exceed the licensing requirements established by the Vermont Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. They are trained in first aid, CPR, child development, and behavior management. Staffing ratios are 1:4 for ages 6 weeks to 16 months; 1:4 for ages 17 months to 30 months; and 1:5 for ages 2 1/2 to 6 years.
