We received 3 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 7 inches in the past 4 days! The conditions are wonderful and the trail count keeps climbing higher. There is more snow in the forecast starting on Wednesday with up to 12 inches of new snow possible by the weekend. This will really make the trail count climb. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating. We now have 63 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 35 trails will be groomed tonight, including Playground, Bootlegger, and Curley’s Cutback for a grand total of 135 acres of freshly groomed terrain.
Tomorrow is the calm before the storm with partly sunny skies and temperatures between 24 and 35 degrees.
Steve Wry out on the mountain today enjoying his retirement
I ran into Steve Wry today in the Upper Parking Lot. Steve recently retired from Smuggs where he was the Vice President of the Guest Skiing Experience. We had a great time taking a few runs and catching up on the lift rides. We skied Upper Rumrunner, Black Snake, Practice Slope, Upper Chilcoot, Upper FIS, and Smugglers’ Alley. I want to thank our snowmakers for their hard work last night on Midway, Dixie’s Knoll, Meadowlark, Garden Path, and Lower Morse Liftline. I also want to thank our groomers for their hard work to get all these trails ready to ski and ride today. Tonight we plan to groom 35 trails including Upper FIS, Smugglers’ Alley, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 135 acres of freshly groomed terrain. The 24 hour forecast is calling for flurries and snow showers with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible with a high of 34 degrees. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. We have 42 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Log Jam, Birch Run, and Zone Terrain Park are all open.
View from the Village Lift
We have 6 lifts operating today, including the Madonna I lift. 70 out of 78 trails are open with terrain for all ability levels. 35 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley that’s a grand total of 135 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Trail pick of the day for experts is Upper FIS. I just skied it and had a blast. Tuesday night our snowmaking crew took advantage of the colder temperatures and made some great snow. The tower snowguns make snowmaking whales that are wide, because they cover a larger area. Speaking of snow we are expecting up to 12 inches of new snow Friday night into Saturday night. This weekend we have the FREE Family Fun Race. Who’s the fastest in your family? Find out on our timed race course sponsored by HearthStone Stoves! 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on Lower Madonna Liftline. This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the Black Bear Tavern Après Sport Party is featuring Stella Artois. The party starts at 2:00 pm with live music from Jammin’ Sam.
