Snow in the forecast for tomorrow

We received an inch of new snow on top last night and 16 inches in the past week. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mixed precipitation at lower elevations and snow in the higher elevations with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible. The high of the day will be 36 degrees and the temperature will be falling throughout the day. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 68 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 16 to 50 inches. 27 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Thomke’s, Snow Snake, and McPherson’s for a grand total of 117 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

7 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours

Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 72 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 16 to 50 inches. 32 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Ruthie’s, Snow Snake, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 123 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is partly sunny and 13 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 27 degrees. We received 21 inches of new snow in the past 6 days and 173 inches this season so far!

I just had to share. I asked the gentleman wearing these classic ski boots if he knew old they are. He told me that they are from 1965 and that he bought them when he was in high school.

We received 2 inches of new snow overnight, 14 inches in the past 5 days, and 166 inches this season so far. Today we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 72 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with base depths of 16 to 50 inches. 28 trails have been groomed for today, including Ruthie’s, Snow Snake, and Treasure Run for a grand total of 125 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is cloudy and 25 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of snow showers and a high of 39 degrees.

The Madonna I Lift will be on cold hold until 10:00 am. Today we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating. We have 77 out of 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 36 trails have been groomed for today, including Ruthie’s, Dan’s Ford, Hibernator, Snow Snake, and Lower Pipeline for a grand total of 143 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is -4 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for sunny skies with a high of 17 degrees. We received snow every day for the past 9 days adding up to 35 inches! We received 5 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating including the Madonna I Lift. We have 72 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 16 to 50 inches. 31 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Snow Snake, Curley’s Cutback, and Playground for a grand total of 122 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies early with a chance of snow showers then partly sunny skies in the afternoon with a high of 18 degrees.

Winter Playground

Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. Winter Recess is here. Time to PLAY in the SNOW! Two FEET of SNOW in the past week and snowmaking continues on Curley’s Cutback and Snow Snake. So children, come up and enjoy our winter Playground.

No pushing or shoving allowed on the Playground, but SKIING and RIDING permitted and encouraged.

Natural snowfall and snowmaking

The Madonna I Lift will be on cold hold tomorrow morning and maybe all day. The Madonna II Lift will open at 9:00 am tomorrow morning. We plan to have the other scheduled lifts to be operating tomorrow. We have 71 skiable trails and 55 lift accessible trails open tomorrow. 22 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Ruthie’s and Curley’s Cutback for a grand total of 105 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with base depths of 14 to 46 inches. Snowmaking tonight on Upper FIS, McPherson’s, and Playground. Currently, it is cloudy and 5 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for scattered snow showers with a high of 3 degrees. Bundle up tomorrow and enjoy the fantastic conditions!

Birch Run Fun

The Birch Run Terrain Park has two jumps and 5 rails. Tomorrow we plan to have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating. The Madonna I lift will not open tomorrow. In the case of a lift evacuation, the icy surface on Madonna Liftline would make it hard to get the skiers and rider off the mountain safely. Thank you for your understanding. We plan to have 32 trails open for tomorrow with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 14 to 52 inches. 31 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Playground, Snow Snake, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 114 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is sunny and 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 37 degrees.
