It was a little cloudy this morning and then the sun came out. The temperatures rose pretty quickly, especially at lower elevations. Upper FIS was groomed last night on skiers’ right, so I made it my second run of the day. The sun worked its magic and softened the surface conditions. Ski Patrol dropped the rope on Drifter, Shuttle, Red Fox Glades, Jolly Rodger, Lower Pipeline, Full Nelson, Upper Exhibition, and Harvey’s this afternoon. Drifter is a favorite of mine when it comes to scenic trails, so I returned to Madonna this afternoon. I made sure to stop at all the usual spots to soak up the amazing views. Tomorrow, we plan to have all 8 lifts operating. We have 43 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 36 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Thomke’s, Log Jam, Smugglers’ Alley, Snow Snake, Drifter, and skier’s right on Upper FIS for a total of 139 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable, with average base depths of 8 to 34 inches. Currently, it is sunny and 32 degrees at the summit of Sterling, with winds of 5 to 15 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies becoming mostly sunny and breezy, with a high of 39 degrees at the base and 31 degrees at higher elevations.
