Goodbye 23 – Hello 24

We are presently making snow on Lower Rumrunner, Meadowlark, and Midway. Tomorrow we plan to have the Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Sterling Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider all operating. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. All 15 trails will be groomed for tomorrow for a total of 63 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches. Currently, it is cloudy and 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance of flurries early then skies becoming mostly sunny with a high of 23 degrees at the base and 18 degrees at higher elevations. Happy New Year’s Eve!

Snowmaking in progress

Last night we made snow on Lower Rumrunner, Midway, and Meadowlark. We are presently making snow on Midway and Meadowlark. Our snowmakers are taking full advantage of this stretch of colder temperatures. Thank you for your hard work!

Freshly groomed terrain

Today, we have Sterling Lift, Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider all operating. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. All 15 trails are being groomed for today, which is 63 acres. We are presently making snow on Midway and Meadowlark. Last night, we made snow on Lower Rumrunner, and it is being groomed now. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches. Currently, it is 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with flurries. Today’s forecast calls for flurries early, then skies becoming partly sunny with a high of 26 degrees at the base and 20 degrees at higher elevations.

New Year’s Eve Eve

We received an inch of new snow, and tonight’s forecast calls for another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation. Tomorrow’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with a chance of flurries a high of 25 degrees at the base and 18 degrees at higher elevations. We plan to resume snow-making operations on Midway, Meadowlark, Birch Run, Lower Rumrunner, and base areas tonight. Tomorrow, we plan to have the Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Sterling Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider all operating. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. All 15 trails will be groomed for tomorrow. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches.

Winter returns

We received a dusting to an inch of new snow. Currently, it is 22 degrees at the summit of Sterling with flurries and winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for snow showers 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible with a high of 30 degrees at the base and 26 degrees at higher elevations. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day. Our snowmakers are getting ready to fire the guns back up tonight. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 12 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley.

Grooming in progress

All lifts will open at 9 am this morning due to grooming. We plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and the Village Lift all operating. We received a dusting of new snow overnight. Currently, it is 25 degrees at the summit of Sterling with flurries. Today’s forecast calls for snow showers with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible with a high of 32 degrees. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day. Tonight’s forecast is snow with another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 12 trails will be groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley, for a total of 50 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable, with average base depths of 12 to 34 inches.

Lift operations

All lifts will open tomorrow at 9 am due to grooming operations. Temperatures are falling and will reach freezing late tonight. To provide the best snow quality, we need to let the snow set up before we groom the trails. You can sleep an extra hour while our groomers lay down the corduroy. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you were on the hill today, make sure to dry out all your gear. Damp gloves, goggles, or clothing won’t be much fun tomorrow with the return of colder air. Speaking of colder temperatures, we plan to resume snowmaking operations tomorrow night. Temperatures will be in the teens Saturday night, Sunday night, and Monday night, which will be great for snowmaking. The clear stuff falling out of the sky turns to snow tonight and we could see an inch of accumulation. Tomorrow’s forecast is cloudy skies with snow showers. Another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation is possible with a high of 30 degrees. Temperatures will continue to fall throughout the day tomorrow. We plan to have Sterling Lift, Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider operating tomorrow. Surface conditions are machine-groomed and variable, with average base depths of 10 to 32 inches. Currently, it is foggy and 38 degrees at the summit of Sterling, with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast calls for cloudy skies with fog, mix, and rain at a high of 41 degrees.

Lift Update

All lifts will have a delayed opening tomorrow morning until 9 am due to grooming operations. Temperatures will be falling tonight, with rain turning to snow. The temperature will not hit the freezing point until later in the night. We have to wait until after the snow sets up before we can groom the trails to provide the best conditions.
