Hannah finds some nice snow on the side of the trail

Today was just fantastic! We received 3 inches of new snow overnight and another 4 inches of new snow during the day. It was like Mother Nature kept hitting the refresh button. I started my day with a run on Smugglers’ Alley and then Upper FIS. I ran into my good friends John, Alex, and Pat in the middle of the day and got to do a run with them in the woods. To top off my day, I got to ski Upper Morse Liftline with my three kids. Hannah and Hayleigh rode their snowboards down Upper Morse Liftline for the first time today. Hayleigh told me that “it’s no big deal if you fall because of all the fresh snow”.

Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating, including the Madonna 1 Lift. We now have 75 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with average base depths of 16 to 52 inches. 31 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Upper Chilcoot, Hibernator, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 128 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Our season snowfall total is now 143 inches. Currently it is snowing and 21 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tonight’s forecast is calling for snow and sleet 1 to 3 inches of accumulation. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for snow, heavy at times 10 to 14 inches of accumulation possible with a high of 25 degrees. The temperature will be falling in the afternoon. Friday’s night forecast is also snow with another 3 to 5 inches of accumulation.
