Tonight: Snow showers. Areas of blowing snow. Low around 4 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Friday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 5 pm. Areas of blowing snow before 1 pm. Cloudy, with a high near 13 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Friday Night: A chance of snow showers or light snow before 7 pm, then a chance of light snow between 7 pm and 1 am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Saturday: A chance of light snow between noon and 3 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 18 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.

3 Mountain tickets sales are closed Saturday, March 6th and Sunday, March 7th. We have reached our comfortable capacity.

Sterling Mountain is open to uphill traffic today. Skinners should go out of Parking Lot 1 to Black Snake, staying to the looker’s left of the trail. Be advised that there will be considerable snowcat and snowmobile traffic on Lower Exhibition, Lower Treasure, Crossover Trail, and Upper Rumrunner.  There will also be skier traffic on Lower Rumrunner coming off Madonna Mountain.

Employees are red flagged Friday, March 5, Saturday March 6, and Sunday March 7. They can ski or ride from 8 am till 10 am all 3 days.

Today we plan to have 5 lifts operating, Madonna I, Madonna II, Village, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, and Sir Henry’s Glider. The Sterling Lift will be closed today and tomorrow for a mechanical repair. Dopplemayr is here to fix the issue and we hope to have the repairs complete in two days. We have 54 skiable trails and 38 lift-accessible trails open today. Shuttle is now open. If you park in Parking Lot 1 you can ski or ride back to your vehicle by taking Shuttle, Crossover, Treasure Run, Lower Exhibition, and the Practice Slope. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with base depths of 16 to 50 inches. 31 trails have been groomed for today including Snow Snake and Shuttle for a grand total of 138 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is partly sunny and 1 degree at the summit of Madonna with winds of 10 to 20 mph.

The Extreme Challenge is today on Madonna Liftline from Catwalk down to the Robin’s Run work road. Spectators are not allowed on the trail, but can get a great bird’s eye view from the Madonna I Lift.
