I went skiing this morning on Madonna and Sterling. I did a nice long glade run on Madonna, Doc Dempsey’s to Bermuda. I was able to find some fresh turns in both of them. On Sterling I skied Bootlegger. I love how Bootlegger is narrow and steep. It keeps you on your toes. This afternoon I traded my skis for a snowboard and headed up the Village Lift. My daughter Hayleigh and I did some after-school shredding on Upper Morse Liftline “Hayleigh’s favorite trail.” Hayleigh even got a shout-out from the lift for riding through some fresh snow on the side of the trail!
Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. We plan to have 5 lifts operating; Village, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, Sterling, Madonna I, and Sir Henry’s Glider. We have 66 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 24 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Sam’s Run, McPherson’s, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 112 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 12 to 42 inches. Currently, it is partly sunny and 8 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance for snow showers early with a half-inch of accumulation possible then skies becoming partly sunny with a high of 15 degrees. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day. Snowmaking continues around the clock on Upper FIS.
