Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 16 to 50 inches. Currently, it is partly sunny and 0 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 15 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for periods of snow with 3 to 5 inches of accumulation possible with a high of 29 degrees at the base and 21 degrees at higher elevations.

Happy Monday

We received 3 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 20 inches in the past 5 days. Today we have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including Morse Highlands and Madonna I. We have 67 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Freefall and Black Hole are open from the traverse on Upper FIS. Upper Drifter is open from Catwalk. Lower Black Bear is open from Jolly Rodger. 30 trails have been groomed for today, including Log Jam, Treasure Run, McPherson’s, Ruthie’s, and Howie’s Wanderer for a grand total of 126 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 16 to 50 inches. Currently, it is partly sunny and -8 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 15 to 20 mph. Skibras and snow squalls

It was snowing most of the day and we received a couple of inches. A snow squall warning was issued for the area late this afternoon and they were not wrong. I think we got more snow in a half-hour than we did all day long! We received 4 to 5 inches of new snow today! Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 6 lifts operating, including Madonna I and Morse Highlands. We have 67 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Black Bear is open from Jolly Rodger. Freefall and Black Hole are open from the Upper FIS traverse. 30 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Ruthie’s, McPherson’s, Black Snake, Treasure Run, Curley’s Cutback, and Hibernator for a grand total of 126 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Birch Run Terrain Park is open. Currently, it is snowing and 13 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies, breezy with a high of 11 degrees at the base and 5 degrees at higher elevations. Bundle up and enjoy the wonderful conditions!

Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 14 to 50 inches. Currently, it is 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with light snow and winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for snow showers with 2 to 4 inches of accumulation possible, breezy a high of 27 degrees at the base and 18 degrees at higher elevations.

Junior Freeski Competition

You will see many smiling faces in the photos below for good reason. It was a great day on the mountain with fresh snow, sunshine, and a bunch of talented young adults! The tricks, the amplitude, the control, the line, and the courage were all very impressive today! It was so much fun to watch these athletes show off their skills.

Fresh snow and sunshine

Ski Patrol is dropping ropes left and right, right now. We received 15 inches of new snow in the past 3 days. The new snow is light and fluffy. All the new snow is allowing us to open many trails, but they might not stay open very long. Almost everything is open for now on Sterling and Madonna. If you want to ski or ride a certain trail you should do it now. Presently we have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. A the moment we have 71 trails open, so get it while you can! Have fun in all the new snow!

Fresh snow

We received 10 to 12 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 161 inches this season so far! The new snow made a huge difference in the surface conditions today. The skiing and riding just got better as the day went on. Ski Patrol dropped the ropes on natural snow trails like Harvey’s Hideaway, Jolly Rodger, the Shire, Ruthie’s, and Gary B’s. The new snow will also groom in quite nicely with the existing snow on snowmaking trails. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. We have 43 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 14 to 50 inches. 34 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Upper FIS, Smugglers’ Alley, Thomke’s, McPherson’s, Hibernator, Curley’s Cutback, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 133 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Tonight’s forecast is calling for some snow showers with another inch of accumulation possible. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 21 degrees at the base and 14 degrees at higher elevations. The forecast for Sunday is snow showers with 2 to 4 inches of accumulation possible.
