Gorgeous day on the mountain

I had a blast snowboarding this morning on Morse Mountain. I was on my carving board, which I am still trying to dial in. I took a few mid-station runs on the Village Lift to build my confidence before venturing to the top. All went well and next time I might go straight for the top. This afternoon I grabbed my skis and headed for the upper mountains. I went hunting for powder stashes in the trees and found just what I was looking for! My last run was a nice long cruiser down Chilcoot, Ruthie’s, Curley’s Cutback, and Meadowlark. Ruthie’s was skiing very nice after its fresh groom last night.

Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 73 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 31 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Drifter, Smugglers’ Alley, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 122 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with average base depths of 16 to 48 inches. Last night we made snow on Bootlegger, Thomke’s Express, and the Zone. We plan to resume snowmaking operations tomorrow night. Currently, it is partly sunny and 23 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 15 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance of some freezing drizzle early then a chance of snow showers with a high of 29 degrees.
