I was riding the shuttle bus from the welcome sign up to Parking Lot #1 with a few people today. The shuttle bus driver Jim says” hey Hugh what’s the snow report”. I then told him what the weather was and what we had for open terrain. The gentleman sitting behind me named Tim asked me “How do you know that?” I told him that I was the Snow Reporter here at Smuggs. He then asked me to repeat the snow report, so I did a live version of the Snow Phone (644-1111). After we stopped laughing Tim’s friend Nicole said that “I have been coming to Smuggs ever since I was a little girl. I took lessons from your Ski School and learned to ski here. We have 5 kids in our family and they all learned how to ski or ride here at Smuggs in your Snow Sport University. I took ski lessons until I was 14 years old. At 14 years old I attended your Night School for Boarding. I then turned my skis in for a snowboard and never looked back. I live in California now, but I still come back to Smuggs every year. It is worth the trip!” After we arrived in Parking Lot #1 Nicole called her Dad John to ask him “what year did we start coming up to Smuggs?”John replied “It was so long ago Good Time Charlie had black hair and the actual year was 1992”.
