Powder day

What a difference a day makes! Late yesterday afternoon there was clear snow falling from the sky. Clear snow does not usually help the trail count. By this morning things had turned around. The temperature fell throughout the night and the clear snow became white snow. It was really snowing hard for a while this morning and we had 5 inches of new snow by 11:30 am. It continued to snow all day and we ended up with 8 inches of new snow. Ski Patrol dropped the rope on Lower Doc’s, Thomke’s, and Dan’s Ford. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 4 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 30 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and machine groomed with base depths of 12 to 46 inches. 16 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Chilcoot, Treasure Run, and Garden Path for a grand total of 71 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is snowing and 18 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tonight’s forecast is calling for periods of snow with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible on top. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a slight chance of an early snow shower and a high of 28 degrees.

Uphill traffic will be allowed on Madonna & Sterling, today and tomorrow from 4:30 pm till 10:00 pm.
