Currently, it is partly sunny and 6 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 15 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with a high of 23 degrees at the base and 19 degrees at higher elevations. We have 5 lifts operating today, including Madonna I. We have 49 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. We received an inch of new snow overnight. 26 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley, Chilcoot, Midway, and McPherson’s, for a total of 131 acres of freshly groomed terrain.

My friend Aldy M told me that Chilcoot is part of the Long Trail… should I file this under “neat Smuggs facts” or is someone pulling my leg?

They are not pulling your leg — your friend is absolutely right! The Long Trail crosses the top of Sterling Mountain and briefly overlaps with both Drifter and Chilcoot on Madonna Mountain. It’s definitely a “neat Smuggs fact” and a fun tidbit to share during your visit! We can’t wait to welcome you in February — you’re in for a fantastic time!
