Artists in the Mountains

Take some time off the slopes to dabble in the arts. Specially designed, hands-on workshops help you create your own arts and crafts project to enjoy for years to come. Local artists provide instruction and all the materials needed to complete your project.

Come join us for a two-hour fun filled activity for all ages. Together we will make a snowman come alive on a clear glass mug. No snow, no carrots and no coal. Instead we will use acrylic enamel paints, brushes and a technique referred to as layering. After 24-hours you need to bake it in the oven to set. Then it will be ready to go. Let it snow!

Learn how strokes are made on canvas and how your brushes do the work with acrylic paint. All while you sip your favorite drink. All levels. Materials included. 21 & older only. Alcoholic beverages are not provided. Meets at the Nordland Library.

Learn to make a Snowman pin made with battery operated tea lights. Decorate with fleece, fabric, and paint. The nose lights up! A fun filled project to pin on you scarf, hat or more! Ages 10 & older. All materials included. Under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Stencil a memory. You'll stencil a design on a glass ornament using glass etching cream. Ages 10 & older. All materials included.

We will focus on making preparations for strengthening your immune system in our ever changing world. Kelley Robie of Horsetail Herbs will discuss techniques for drying and storing herbs and then cover the basics of how to prepare a highly effective Respiratory Tea, an Anti-Viral Tincture, and an Antiseptic Salve. Medicine making using “weeds for your needs”! You will take home all of your preparations for immediate use.

Explore your creative side as you develop natural forms into clay images in the three-dimensional art form. Nancy Schade leads you in clay modeling, learning the properties of various clays, and forming clay into a piece that can be finished. Take home a complete sculpture.

Aromatherapy Blends For Winter Health!

Learn how to prevent common winter ailments, from the cold to the flu, with herbs and aromatherapy. Join Kelley Robie, of Horsetail Herbs, and make amazing aromatherapy blends for the winter months! We will be formulating an Herbal Hand Sanitizer and Room Disinfectant Spray to kill those germs, a Sinus Oil Blend to open up the nasal passages, and a Sore Throat Spray to help keep you healthy all winter long! Herbal Winter Chocolate Delights!

Are you ready to escape and have some serious Chocolate fun? Love everything chocolate? Then this class is for you! Chocolate was believed to be a source of spiritual wisdom, energy and power, making it perfect for our projects! Join Kelley Robie, of Horsetail Herbs, as we make a Sweet Mocha Honey Scrub to smooth your skin followed by Cocoa Butter Body Butter to moisturize your body. Finally we will make an Herbal Hot Chocolate Blend to tantilize your taste buds. Come warm up with these coco-licious delights! Meets at the Nordland Library.

Using our creative side we learn how to turn ephemera, photos & even ski maps into beautiful conversation pieces under glass. We will use tools & leather to finish off our pieces. This is an excellent way to show off your personality, make memories or that BFF necklace set. The possibilities are endless. Guests are welcome to bring in photos & ephemera, but the instructor will have some fabulous photos & paper to choose from. $45 per person, per session. Ages 12 and up. All materials included. We will cover how to stamp words, create patterns and design amazing treasures.
