Smugglers' has teamed with Vermont-based Burton Snowboards to offer Learn to Ride programs for children and adults who are beginning snowboarders.
This partnership combines Burton's renowned snowboarding equipment with Smugglers professional instruction, ensuring the best possible introductory level experience for new riders.
The Burton Learn to Ride equipment is designed to accelerate the learning curve with an integrated system of boots, boards and bindings that were developed to provide ease of use and user confidence at the introductory level. The Learn to Ride snowboards feature a softer flex and an edge bevel, which reduces the likelihood of catching an edge and makes linking turns easier. LTR boots and bindings are softer flexing, allowing for increased comfort and as well as easing the user's ability to guide the board into a turn. Youth bindings feature one strap with simple ratchets, and for the youngest riders, bindings are secured with easily adjusted Velcro.
New riders set up with the Burton Learn to Ride equipment will benefit from the expert instruction provided by Smugglers' Snow Sport University (SSU) instructors. According to SSU director Harley Johnson, "Professional instruction maximizes the on-slope experience by quickly setting up newcomers for success. Our instructors are adept at introducing newcomers to snowboarding with expertise, patience and personalized attention. They're enthusiastic about integrating the LTR product into the Smugglers' instructional program because they know it will accelerate the learning process."
The Resort's beginner-level snowboarding programs span all ages from children to adults and include: Discovery Dynamos snowboarding camp for ages 3-5; children's and adult group, and private lessons; Night School for Skiing & Boarding; and the Learn to Ride program. Beginners start out on Sir Henry's Hill, a five acre slope with a gentle grade dedicated to introductory teaching and learning. Sir Henry's is served by a conveyor lift.
The Burton Learn to Ride boots and snowboards with bindings are available at 3 Mountain Equipment, Smugglers' Resort Village equipment rental shop.
