I want to thank our snowmakers and groomers for all their hard work! They did a wonderful job getting Black Snake, Snake Bite, and the Practice Slope ready for the ski race today and tomorrow. Snowmaking operations are now on Madonna Mountain. Snow was made last night on Lower FIS and Lower Madonna Liftline. Snowmaking has been shut off on Lower Madonna Liftline and was groomed early this morning. Upper FIS is closed today due to snowmaking.

Snake Bite and parts of Black Snake will be closed during the race today and tomorrow. We plan to have them back open again around 2:00 pm when the race is finished for the day.

Today we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. We have 64 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 14 to 46 inches. 21 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 89 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is sunny and 3 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 15 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and a high of 19 degrees.

Another wonderful day at Smuggs

Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lift operating, including the Madonna I lift. We plan to have 64 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 14 to 46 inches. 20 trails will be groomed tonight, including Curley’s Cutback and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 89 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We are presently making snow on Lower FIS. Tonight we plan to make snow on Lower Madonna Liftline and Lower FIS. Tomorrow Upper FIS will be closed due to snowmaking operations. Black Snake will be closed below the open meadow for a ski race tomorrow. Snake Bite will also be closed. Both trails will open once the race is complete around 2:00 pm. The race will also be on the Practice Slope next to the T-Bar. To return to Parking Lot #1 you could cut over from Lower Exhibition to the Practice Slope. Then please cross the racecourse at mid-station on the T-Bar. Make sure to look up when crossing a racecourse to make sure no one is coming. Full Nelson and Jolly Rodger can be accessed from Pipeline. Currently, it is partly sunny and 1 degree at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and a high of 18 degrees.

Mountains of adventure and mountains of fun

We received 8 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 34 inches in the past week. Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 7 lifts operating. The Madonna I Lift will have a delayed opening due to cold temperatures and wind. The Madonna II Lift will open at 8:30 am tomorrow morning. We now have 71 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 24 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Goat Path and Lower Pipeline for a grand total of 107 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Uphill access

Sterling Mountain: Daily 5:30 am – 7:30 am on open trails.

Monday, Jan. 25, and Tuesday, Jan. 26 please stay off Black Snake, Practice Slope, and Snake Bite. There will be a ski race and early morning preparations will be occurring on these trails on both days.

Morse Mountain: Daily 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm on open trails.

Madonna Mountain: Closed for now.
