Today we plan to have 5 lifts operating; Madonna II Lift, Sterling Lift, Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider. The Madonna I Lift will be closed today and tomorrow for snowmaking on Upper Chilcoot. We have 51 trails open today with terrain for all ability levels. We received 14 inches of new snow in the past 4 days and 99 inches this season so far. 24 out of the 51 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley, Lower Chilcoot, and Howie’s Wanderer. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 12 to 42 inches. Currently, it is 1 degree at the summit of Sterling with partly cloudy skies and winds of 10 to 20 mph. Birch Run Terrain Park opens tomorrow with 3 jumps and 2 rails.

Tomorrow we plan to have 5 lifts operating; Madonna II Lift, Sterling Lift, Village Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Sir Henry’s Glider. We now have 31 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 21 out of the 31 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley, Mulcahy’s Link, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 89 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. Tonight we plan to resume snowmaking operations on McPherson’s, Playground, and Lower Madonna Liftline. Currently, it is cloudy and 26 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for the chance of light snow early then gradual clearing with a high of 17 degrees in the Village and 12 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day.

Dusting of new snow

We have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. Today we plan to have 5 lifts operating; Madonna II, Sterling, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, Village, and Sir Henry’s Glider. The Madonna II Lift will have a delayed opening until 10:00 am today. We have 29 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 19 out of the 29 trails have been groomed for today, including Sam’s Run, Lower FIS, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 86 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. Currently, it is 22 degrees at the summit of Sterling with light snow and winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of snow and patchy freezing fog early, a high of 32 degrees. We are presently making snow on Lower Madonna Liftline, McPherson’s, and Playground.

We received an inch of new snow today bringing our season snowfall total to 66 inches. The inch of new snow made a difference to the surface conditions. Tomorrow will be even better with another inch of new snow expected overnight. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a high of 24 degrees. We have 5 lifts operating; Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Village Lift. We have 17 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 14 out of the 17 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Lower FIS and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 67 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Snowmaking resumes tonight on Sam’s Run, Snow Snake, Curley’s Cutback, and Meadowlark.

The snow dumped and the trail count jumped

We received 11 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 17 inches in the past 2 days. Our trail count was 30 on Friday and today it is 56! The new snow started off pretty heavy which is perfect for building a base. The wind also moved some of the snow around to fill in the low spots. The conditions were amazing today and I can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. We plan to have 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. The Madonna II Lift will operate tomorrow from 10 am till 2 pm. 19 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 85 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with base depths of 14 to 46 inches. Currently, it is snowing and 21 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tonight’s forecast is calling for snow with another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible. Tomorrow’s forecast is cloudy skies with a chance of snow showers early and a high of 23 degrees.

Winter wonderland

We received a dusting to an inch of new snow last night and 11 inches in the past 5 days. Currently, it is cloudy and 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 0 to 5 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a high of 23 degrees. Tomorrow we plan to have Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Madonna II Lift, and Sterling Lift all operating. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with base depths of 12 to 40 inches. 13 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 58 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We are presently making snow on Upper Chilcoot, Waterfall, and the Practice Slope.

Tomorrow we plan to have Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. 13 out of the 21 open trails will be groomed for tomorrow for a grand total of 55 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We plan to groom Smugglers’ Alley tonight. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 8 to 40 inches. Currently, it is cloudy and 19 degrees at the summit of Sterling Mountain. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of a snow shower early and a high of 31 degrees. Employees are not red flagged mid week. The Nordic Center is now open with 10 km of trails.

Currently it is raining and 45 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 20 to 25 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for sleet, freezing rain, and rain before 11:00 am then snow showers with temperatures falling into the 20’s by late in the day and windy. Be aware of changing conditions throughout the day.
