Dusting of new snow

We have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. Today we plan to have 5 lifts operating; Madonna II, Sterling, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, Village, and Sir Henry’s Glider. The Madonna II Lift will have a delayed opening until 10:00 am today. We have 29 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 19 out of the 29 trails have been groomed for today, including Sam’s Run, Lower FIS, and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 86 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. Currently, it is 22 degrees at the summit of Sterling with light snow and winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of snow and patchy freezing fog early, a high of 32 degrees. We are presently making snow on Lower Madonna Liftline, McPherson’s, and Playground.

Sterling Mountain is open from 5:30 am till 7:30 am.

Madonna Mountain is presently closed.

Employees will be red-flagged this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm.

Skiing and riding on all 3 mountains

We received an inch of new snow today bringing our season snowfall total to 66 inches. The inch of new snow made a difference to the surface conditions. Tomorrow will be even better with another inch of new snow expected overnight. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a high of 24 degrees. We have 5 lifts operating; Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Village Lift. We have 17 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 14 out of the 17 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Lower FIS and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 67 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Snowmaking resumes tonight on Sam’s Run, Snow Snake, Curley’s Cutback, and Meadowlark.

The snow dumped and the trail count jumped

We received 11 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 17 inches in the past 2 days. Our trail count was 30 on Friday and today it is 56! The new snow started off pretty heavy which is perfect for building a base. The wind also moved some of the snow around to fill in the low spots. The conditions were amazing today and I can’t wait to get back out there tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains. We plan to have 6 lifts operating, including the Madonna I Lift. The Madonna II Lift will operate tomorrow from 10 am till 2 pm. 19 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 85 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are powder and packed powder with base depths of 14 to 46 inches. Currently, it is snowing and 21 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tonight’s forecast is calling for snow with another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible. Tomorrow’s forecast is cloudy skies with a chance of snow showers early and a high of 23 degrees.

Winter wonderland

We received a dusting to an inch of new snow last night and 11 inches in the past 5 days. Currently, it is cloudy and 14 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 0 to 5 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a high of 23 degrees. Tomorrow we plan to have Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Madonna II Lift, and Sterling Lift all operating. We have 15 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with base depths of 12 to 40 inches. 13 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 58 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We are presently making snow on Upper Chilcoot, Waterfall, and the Practice Slope.

We now have 5 lifts operating and 21 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Tomorrow we plan to have Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. 13 out of the 21 open trails will be groomed for tomorrow for a grand total of 55 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We plan to groom Smugglers’ Alley tonight. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 8 to 40 inches. Currently, it is cloudy and 19 degrees at the summit of Sterling Mountain. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of a snow shower early and a high of 31 degrees. Employees are not red flagged mid week. The Nordic Center is now open with 10 km of trails.

We have 70 skiable trails and 60 lift accessible trails open today. The Madonna I lift is presently on wind hold. We have 6 lifts operating: Madonna II, Sterling, Morse Highlands, Mogul Mouse’s Magic, Village, and Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet. Surface conditions are spring conditions and machine groomed with average base depths of 16 to 56 inches. Currently it is sunny and 47 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 15 to 25 mph. The Madonna I Lift, Madonna II Lift, Morse Highlands Lift, and Village Lift are presently on hold. We have 3 lifts operating today, Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. The best skiing and riding will be early in the day. Temperatures will be falling and surface conditions will change. We plan to have 18 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 10 to 46 inches. We plan to resume snowmaking tonight. Currently it is raining and 45 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 20 to 25 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for sleet, freezing rain, and rain before 11:00 am then snow showers with temperatures falling into the 20’s by late in the day and windy. Be aware of changing conditions throughout the day.

Tuesday: Snow and freezing drizzle, becoming all snow after 8 am. High near 30. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: Snow likely before 7 pm, then snow showers likely after 7 pm. Cloudy, with a low around 22. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

New Year’s Day: Snow showers likely, mainly between 10 am and 4 pm. Cloudy, with a high near 26. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

We have 23 skiable trails and 18 lift accessible trails open today. The Village Lift, Madonna I Lift, and Madonna II Lift are presently on wind hold. We have 4 lifts operating today, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Morse Highlands Lift, Sterling Lift, and Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet. Today’s forecast is calling for snow and sleet with an inch of accumulation possible with some freezing rain and a high of 26 degrees.

Today we plan to have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, Madonna II Lift, Sterling Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. We are presently making snow on Upper Chilcoot. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 12 to 48 inches. Currently it is cloudy and 27 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Today’s forecast is calling for a slight chance of flurries early then skies becoming partly sunny with a high of 31 degrees.

Tomorrow we plan to have skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with 5 lifts operating, Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, Sir Henry’s Wonder Carpet, and the Village Lift. Snowmaking is moving to Madonna Mountain. Snowmakers are presently turning snowguns on Upper Chilcoot! We plan to make snow on Upper Chilcoot tonight and as long as the temperature allows tomorrow. The snowmaking guns on Log Jam and Dixie’s Knoll have been shut off. We plan to have the Morse Highlands area open on Monday. Tomorrow we plan to have 21 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 18 out of the 21 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 84 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Currently, it is partly sunny and 20 degrees at the summit of Sterling. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with a high of 33 degrees. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 12 to 48 inches.
