Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. While we wait for Mother Nature to deliver some freshies today and later this week, our groomers have been making the most of what we do have. 35 trails totaling 135 acres have been groomed. 7 Lifts, including Madonna I, will be operating, and 48 trails will be open. Today’s forecast is sunny and windy, then snow of 1-3 inches, with highs of 34 degrees at the base and 26 at the summit. Dress appropriately.
Thank you snowmakers
A huge shout out to our hard-working snowmakers! The weather has been a little crazy this season, but our snowmakers have been ready every time Mother Nature turns down the thermostat. Their efforts already allow us to ski and ride on all 3 mountains. They are presently working on getting us more terrain open with snowmaking on Upper Chilcoot and the Practice Slope.
100 percent open
Lifts and Trails
Tomorrow we plan to have top to bottom skiing and riding on all 3 mountains with all 8 lifts operating. We have all 78 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Surface conditions are packed powder and powder with average base depths of 24 to 54 inches. We plan to groom 43 trails tonight, including Upper FIS, Smugglers’ Alley, and Snow Snake for a grand total of 156 acres.
Currently it is 16 degrees at the summit of Sterling with partly sunny skies and winds of 0 to 5 mph. Tonight’s forecast is calling for snow with up to 5 inches of accumulation possible. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for a chance of mix early becoming snow later with temperatures between 21 and 39 degrees.
We received 6 inches of new snow in the past 2 days, 15 inches in the past week, and 300 inches this season so far!
Meeting with Mother Nature
Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, Mother Nature sits beside a fire in a tipi on Morse Mountain. She serves apple cider and shares nature tales. Recent visitors included Eire, Marie, and Eireann from Ontario, Rockin’ Ron the Friendly Pirate, and local camp kids Hayleigh and Joyal. Snow Sport University Instructor Christina Turmelle took the photo.
4 inches of wet snow overnight and 1 – 3 more inches expected later today.
