Skiing and riding on all 3 mountains

We received an inch of new snow today bringing our season snowfall total to 66 inches. The inch of new snow made a difference to the surface conditions. Tomorrow will be even better with another inch of new snow expected overnight. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for mostly cloudy skies with a high of 24 degrees. We have 5 lifts operating; Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift, and Village Lift. We have 17 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 14 out of the 17 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Lower FIS and Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 67 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Snowmaking resumes tonight on Sam’s Run, Snow Snake, Curley’s Cutback, and Meadowlark.

11 out of the 13 trails have been groomed for today, including Smugglers’ Alley and Garden Path for a grand total of 46 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Today we plan to have 4 lifts operating; Village Lift, Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. We are presently making snow on Mulcahy’s LInk, Lower FIS, Midway, and Meadowlark. Currently, it is 9 degrees at the summit of Sterling with partly sunny skies. Today’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with a high of 25 degrees.

More terrain opens tomorrow

Tomorrow we plan to open Garden Path! We plan to have the Village Lift and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to the top. Sterling Lift and Sir Henry’s Glider will also be open. We now have 13 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 11 out of the 13 trails will be groomed for tomorrow, including Smugglers’ Alley for a grand total of 52 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. Midway and Meadowlark are closed for snowmaking operations. Currently, it is partly cloudy and 20 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies early becoming sunny in the afternoon with a high of 16 degrees.

Uphill travel is closed on Sterling Mountain. Madonna Mountain is open for uphill travel, but it is not recommended.

Freshly groomed terrain

We now have 12 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. 11 out of the 12 trails have been groomed for today, that’s 39 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We have 4 lifts operating. Village Lift and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift are open to mid-station. We also have Sterling Lift and Sir Henry’s Glider operating. Currently, it is partly sunny and 7 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 5 to 10 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies with a high of 25 degrees. We are presently making snow on Midway, Meadowlark, and Garden Path.

The weekend is looking good

Today we plan to have 3 lifts operating; Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. The Sterling Lift will have a delayed opening until 9 am due to grooming today. We have 10 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. All 10 trails have been groomed for today, that’s a grand total of 32 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and loose granular with average base depths of 6 to 32 inches. Currently it is partly cloudy and 31 degrees at the summit of Sterling with winds of 10 to 20 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for partly sunny skies, breezy, a high of 37 degrees and temperatures falling throughout the day. We plan to resume snowmaking tonight on Morse Mountain.

I called an Uber…

Rockin’ Ron for Hugh. I called an Uber but a Groomer showed up instead. Makes sense, the groomed trails will be the best ride, at least until conditions soften up. Sterling Lift is closed for mechanical repairs but we hope to have it operating tomorrow. For today, we’ll have 5 lifts including Madonna I, and 29 trails open.

UPDATE: Parking Lot 1 is closed because there is no way to ski back to it from the Madonna trails.

This is just so cool! Today the Sterling Lift crew is all females! I’ve been here at Smuggs for a few years and I can’t recall seeing this before. Ladies thank you for letting me take your picture and of course for being who you are!

We now have 5 lifts operating and 21 trails open with terrain for all ability levels. Tomorrow we plan to have Sterling Lift, Madonna II Lift, Village Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift. 13 out of the 21 open trails will be groomed for tomorrow for a grand total of 55 acres of freshly groomed terrain. We plan to groom Smugglers’ Alley tonight. Surface conditions are machine groomed and packed powder with average base depths of 8 to 40 inches. Currently, it is cloudy and 19 degrees at the summit of Sterling Mountain. Tomorrow’s forecast is calling for cloudy skies with a chance of a snow shower early and a high of 31 degrees. Employees are not red flagged mid week. The Nordic Center is now open with 10 km of trails.

Today we plan to have Sterling Lift, Sir Henry’s Glider, Village Lift to the top, and Mogul Mouse’s Magic Lift open to mid-station. We have 5 intermediate trails, 5 beginner trails, and 1 expert trail open today. Currently, it is 12 degrees at the summit of Sterling with clear skies and winds of 0 to 5 mph. Today’s forecast is calling for sunny skies with increasing clouds, a chance of snow showers later in the day, and a high of 32 degrees. Last night we made snow on Lower Rumrunner. We are presently making snow on Lower Madonna Liftline and Mulcahy’s Link. All 11 trails have been groomed for a grand total of 46 acres of freshly groomed terrain. Surface conditions are machine groomed and variable with average base depths of 12 to 36 inches.
