Autumn has to be the nicest time of the year to mountain bike in Vermont! The air is getting cooler, the leaves are starting to turn and the trails are in great shape and ready to ride! The Smugglers' Notch region offers some of the best mountain biking in Northern New England with over 100 miles of great single track within an easy drive. At Smuggs we are developing premier beginner and novice mountain bike trails and some more challenging single track.
Our professionally trained mountain bike instructors and guides will help you to get the most out of your experience, whether you're just learning to ride, want to further develop your skills, or get a personal tour. Our new pump track is great fun for experienced riders as well as beginners.
And with our convenient rental program, you don't have to worry about having the right bike. There is a wide array of frame sizes available for adults & children. Mountain bikes can be rented from 3 Mountain Equipment daily, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The staff at 3 Mountain Equipment are happy to assist you with your complete bike program including maps and preferred routes.
Mountain Bike Group Ride
Daily 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
If you and your family are ready to explore the trails with your mountain bike, then this group ride is for you. These tours are at a moderate pace and will help you gain confidence out on the trail. Age 15 & up. $30 per person, minimum of 3 participants needed for program to run. Basic mountain biking skills required. Program meets at the 3 Mountain Equipment.
Learn to Mountain Bike Clinics
Daily 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Learn the basics of mountain biking in this one and a half hour clinic. You will have fun and gain more confidence while learning proper body position, shifting, trail etiquette and other tips to prepare you to hit the trail! Ages 12 & older, 15 & under must be accompanied by an adult. Clinics are limited to 6 participants. $48 per person, bike and helmet included. Program meets at the 3 Mountain Equipment.

Mountain Bike Lessons
Private lessons available for you, your group or family. Please call to design what works best for you! $60 per hour for an individual. $90 per hour, per group (up to 6 people). 2 hour minimum. Check for availability. Program meets at the 3 Mountain Equipment.
Ride with a personal guide to explore some of Northern Vermont's best single track. Guided rides on or off property, terrain is picked to suit your riding ability. Open to intermediate and advanced riders only. Please call to design what works best for you! $60 per hour up to 6 people. $200 for 4 hours. Guests must provide own transportation. Guides are limited, advance registration is recommended. Program meets at the 3 Mountain Equipment.
For all Mountain Bike activities and programs:
Participants should wear appropriate clothing.
A helmet is required.
Water bottle, gloves and eye protection recommended.

Stowe Bike & Recreational Path
Enjoy Stowe's bike path, a year-round, 5.3 mile paved recreational trail. The trail starts in Stowe Village, next to the Stowe Congregational church, winds its way through the woods and meadows, and crosses the West Branch River 11 times on arched wooden bridges. Numerous shops, lodges, and restaurants are accessible from the path. Click here for the Stowe Bike Path map. The map identifies bicycle rental shops as well as parking along the route.
