High School Giant Slalom - All the North Country high schools will be in attendance for this alpine event. BFA St. Albans is hosting this event on the Sterling Mountain Practice Slope at Smuggs - their home mountain.

Moosehead Mountain Jam - Answer the call with Moosehead this Winter. Join us from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Moosehead Mountain Jam après ski party at Bootleggers' Lounge. From 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Moosehead presents Rhyme & Reason acoustic duo from the Boston area! Then from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Moosehead presents Boston's Mix 104.1 DJ Karson live spinning tunes! Enjoy great Mix music, fun contests, giveaways and prizes courtesy of Moosehead. Plus there'll be a Moosehead Lager special and 1/2 price appetizers too!

WinterFest - Our community celebrates Winter with a variety of events for all ages! At Smugglers', there's a 5K cross country ski ramble on Saturday hosted by the Nordic Center, followed by light snacks. Cross country ski equipment can be rented at the Nordic Center.

Activities in the local area: children's storytime, Pie for Breakfast, lasagna dinner, bonfire, balloon glow, an outdoor adventure dinner hosted by the Boy Scouts, fireworks, a hot chocolate road race, junior snowmobiles and sledding. Winter Trails Day at Smugglers' Notch Resort. - This annual celebration of snowshoeing and cross country skiing is free for novices and nationally sponsored by the Snow Sports Industries of America to encourage newcomers to these winter sports. Pre-registration has been available online. Smugglers' Nordic Center will offer short instructional sessions from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm for first time snowshoers. Snowshoe rentals and trail access for first timers are free. For more info, contact activities director Stacey Comishock at (802) 644-8544.

Ski Bum Prom 2017 - Dress in your best gaper gear or classy prom attire and join us at the Barn at Smugglers' Notch for the best night of the season! All proceeds benefit the Smugglers' Notch Vermont Special Olympics Ski and Ride Team. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Music starts at 6:30 pm with Monkey Do Better. 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm Locals and Company. $20 per ticket. There will be a huge raffle with lots of local products. Raffle tickets $2 each, 3 tickets for $5 or an arm's length for $20! See you there!

Smugglers' Notch Ski & Snowboard Club - SNSC is hosting a U10 Giant Slalom. Come see the future of Vermont racing at its best. Athletes 7 to 9 years old battle it out on the Sterling Mountain Practice Slope. These young athletes in this USASA event are from all the Northern Vermont Councils of the VT Alpine Racing Association.

Whiffenpoofs from Yale University - Join us in the Oak Room at the Morse Mountain Grille as we welcome the world renowned Whiffenpoofs from Yale University. The world's oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group will be performing as you dine from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm!

Smugglers' Notch Snowshoe Festival
Saturday
- Atlas Snowshoe Company, Tubbs Snowshoes, and Marmot present the inaugural Smugglers' Notch Snowshoe Festival. Bring the whole family while we celebrate Winter in Vermont with a weekend of snowshoeing, snowshoe obstacle course, scavenger hunt, games and more. This event is open to all levels and all ages, with free demos and trials as well as guided tours.

USASA Boarder/Skier Cross - The Northern Vermont Tour of USASA is hosting a BX/SX at Smuggs. This is an exciting head to head race with high banked turns and jumps. Come check out the action on the Sterling Mountain Practice Slope. For more information go to usasa.org

Bonfire, torchlight parade and fireworks - Join us for the fun as we light up the night sky with a bonfire, dramatic torchlight parade starring our Snow Sport University instructors, and fireworks against the backdrop of the Green Mountains! VARA Open Slalom - Smugglers' Notch Ski and Snowboard Club is hosting a VARA (Vermont Alpine Racing Association) Slalom on the Sterling Mountain Practice Slope. This will be for age groups U16 & older. Some of the best junior ski racers in Vermont will be here, along with college athletes from all over New England.

Extreme Skiing Challenge - The Smugglers' Notch Ski and Snowboard Club hosts this fun event — an opportunity for junior and adult freeskiers to show their stuff on some of the most difficult terrain Smugglers' Notch has to offer! The course is planned for the Madonna headwall, an ungroomed steep with a double fall line descent filled with cliffs, bumps, trees, chutes, and stumps. Competitors will be judged on line, control, fluidity, technique, and style.

The Extreme Skiing Challenge is IFSA (Juniors 18 yrs old & under) and FWQ2* (19 yrs old +) sanctioned allowing Eastern skiers to garner ranking and seeding points in these competitive series. NEW this year, the Extreme Skiing Challenge is part of the 6-stop Ski The East Freeride Tour. $45 entry fee (includes t-shirt) and $39 lift ticket available. The field will be capped at 100 competitors.

If taking on the headwall isn't your thing, why not come out to watch the action? As the competitors run the course on the headwall from just below Catwalk to just above Madonna midstation, the best seats in the house for watching the excitement will be on the Madonna summit lift. Spectators also can view from a roped off area at the Red Fox Glades near the finish area at the base of the Madonna headwall, easily accessed from midstation.

USSA George Tormey Series Giant Slalom - Smugglers' Notch Ski Club is hosting a USSA Giant Slalom on the Sterling Mountain Practice Slope. Smuggs has one of the best and most challenging Giant Slalom hills in New England. Vermont and other Regional racers U16 & older will be here for this fast race.

Molly Fund Benefit Rail Jam - This special rail jam benefits the Molly Rowlee Fund, which supports families with children undergoing treatment for cancer. This is the fifth year at Smuggs for this event, and it promises to again be awesome - come out and have some fun and support this great cause! The good times include music, giveaways, and a raffle. Registration starts at 9:00 am at the Yurt in the parking lot 1, the Jam starts in the Zone Terrain Park at 11:00 am!

Sports Hub Radio — Join the ski team from the home of the Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics, 98.5 The Sports Hub, for an après ski party at the Black Bear from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Goodtime Charlie and The Sports Hub staff will be playing trivia and fun contests! Enter the contests to win awesome Sports Hub prizes, including a pair of Celtics tickets! See you there!

Blast From the Past Race - The Smugglers' Notch Ski & Snowboard Club invites skiers (21 & over) to bash gates and relive their glory days with a qualifying GS course beginning at 9:30 am (two runs; best run of two) followed by a pro-style dual SL course for the top 16 men and the top 8 women. The equipment doesn't have to be "old," just the racers. Hamburger/hot dog barbecue and beverages included in the entry fee of $35. Registration takes place from 7:30 am - 9:00 am; inspection from 8:15 am - 9:15 am. It's the 21st year of Blast from the Past - come celebrate!

22nd Annual BrewFest Part 2 - Sample the finest in craft beers and regional favorites, plus ciders! A DJ spins the tunes and the Resort's Mountain Grille puts on a tasty appetizer buffet, plus munchies and prizes. From 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm in the Meeting House. Tickets are available at the door. $20 entry includes 8 samples and a souvenir sampling glass. 21 & older, please. Saturday, April 8
6th Annual Pond Skimming - Elvis, a gorilla, guys in bikinis — you'll see it all in the Zone Terrain Park during pond skimming! Registration for this free event starts at 10:00 am in the Madonna/Sterling Base Lodge and the first skimmer launches toward the pond at 12:00 noon. Prizes awarded for best costume. A "don't miss" for spectators!

2017 Backcountry Basecamp - Come join the editors of Backcountry Magazine for a resort-based showcase of all things backcountry. For nearly 20 years Backcountry Magazine has been the leading source for the backcountry movement and now they are bringing that expertise to a one-on-one setting through their Backcountry Basecamp Tour at Smugglers' Notch. Weekend activities feature alpine touring, avalanche training, demos, trade displays, and on mountain course treks. This event is free and on a first-come first-served basis.

Chillin' & Grillin' Annual Tailgate Party - Blue skies, long sunny afternoons ... ahhhh, Spring! Chillin' & Grillin' brings together our mountain community in a celebratory summit of the parking lot parties that go on all season long in Parking Lot 1. Awards of cash and prizes to winners of the following categories:
   • Best Overall Tailgate(Food/Flair/Festive/Fun)
   • Best Original Recipe (Main dish/Side dish/Drink)
   • Best Smuggs-themed Tailgate
