Notch Squad and fun activities for children and teens!

Daily Choices!
Every Day Notch Squad Campers will be able to create their own experience by choosing 3 activities from a daily menu. Campers will arrive at the Notch Squad tent in the morning and see the menu of options for the day. Their day will be broken up into three sessions. One morning session and two afternoon sessions. After each session campers will be brought back to the Notch Squad tent to join the next activity for their next session.

Arts & Crafts! Bring out your creative side with different activities every day. Daily Choices may include: • Bead It - Jewelry Making • Tie-dyeing • Leather Crafting Hiking- Choose from short and long hikes! Explore Vermont to the fullest. Hike in our pristine forest, hunt for nature's treasures and discover hidden mountain streams and secret swimming holes. This group will explore a lot of our wooded areas so we suggest you pack a water bottle and bug repellent. Sturdy footwear is very important. No sandals - please! Games and other active fun! The more energetic campers will enjoy participating in the following activities. • Swimming • Low Ropes • High Ropes Adventure Course • Games on the Green • Super Capture the Flag • Basketball • Mountain Boarding • Digglering • Volleyball • Frisbee Golf
 Choose Sound & Stage as one of your daily choices! Offered Monday through Friday only. Combine your child’s musical talents with those of Smugglers’ musicians and performers in an exciting opportunity to make music in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Counselors will work with the participants throughout the week, culminating in a live performance at Smugglers’ weekly. FunMeister's Summer Showcase. Limited space available. Weekly activities will involve a choice of one of the following: • Vocals • Songwriting • Contemporary Dance • Acting
General Information
Our activities are all CHALLENGE BY CHOICE. This means that if at any point one of the campers does not feel comfortable with any activity, he/she can either step aside and observe, or counselors may help him/her to find a more comfortable way to be a part of the group, without doing the specific activity.
Children in Notch Squad programs are grouped by ages 11-12 & 13-15 years. Youth to Counselor Ratio 1:12.
The above Notch Squad programs are included for those children paid to be on the FamilyFest Vacation Package.
All these Summer programs are offered daily 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. June 7 - September 7, 2009.
Parents Please Note: Our counselors will include your children in our Children's Program Lunch if they do not bring their lunch or if prior arrangements for their lunch have not been made. A charge of $6.75 per child, per lunch, will be automatically posted to your credit card.
What should you wear?

Adventure Rangers & Notch Squad Overnight Hikes
Hike to our mountain Base Lodge for an old fashioned overnight hike with dinner, s'mores, entertainment and games around the campfire. Our Overnight Hikes are guided and supervised by Camp Counselors. All participants will receive a free t-shirt.
Adventure Rangers Overnight (ages 7-10) is on Wednesday night. Notch Squad Overnight (ages 11-15) is on Tuesday night.
Check-in takes place at the Notch Squad Tent next to Teen Alley, between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Those joining us need to register and pay before Tuesday afternoon for Notch Squad's Overnight or Wednesday afternoon for Adventure Ranger's Overnight.
Once everyone's checked in, counselors hike with everyone up the Meadowlark Trail to the Base Lodge. There, they go over the ground rules for the night, and have participants sign a contract ensuring that all know the limits and boundaries. After that, it's time for dinner, and then everyone gets their sleeping bags (provided) and stuff set up for the night. Once everything is set, participants can then take part in a Dance Party, different games and activities, watch movies, or just hang out with friends. Breakfast is included. Everyone arrives back in the Village at 7:30 am the next morning.
$49 first child, $40 each additional child in family.
Golf Lessons & Clinics
Junior Intro to Golf — Open to ages 5 - 17. This clinic is an introduction to the sport with a focus on the fundamentals, golf etiquette, beginning to swing, the importance of safety and FUN! Tuesday and Wednesday, 4:30 pm -5:30 pm. June 7 - September 7, 2009.
Junior Great Golf Escape For Beginners
Junior Great Golf Escape for Beginners for ages 8 - 12, lets you learn all the basics of golf while having fun with your friends.
Monday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, $129 per person, includes transportation, supervision & lunch. Requires sneakers or soft spikes for on-course play. Golf clubs provided if needed. Advanced registration is recommended. June 7 - September 7, 2009.
Lights, Camera, Action! - Video Camp 101
Guided by a professional videographer, kids ages 10 - 17 will learn the fundamentals of videography as they explore the Resort and develop program story lines to document on film in this 4-day program.
"This camp is great fun," says Peter Ingvoldstad, director of Summer Fun University, which houses Smugglers' camps programs. "Last Summer the kids really got into developing programs and had a great time doing newscasts and spoofs of popular television shows." All this and fun at the pools, too! The camp also provides participants with hands-on skills and an introduction to a possible future career. Kids will produce, tape, and edit their own video project while learning about camera operation, lighting, editing, animation, special effects, fades, wipes and transitions. All participants will produce a final project that will debut at the big screen Video Showcase Premiere during the FunMeister's Summer Showcase on Thursday evenings. They will receive their own copy of their work to take home as a special souvenir of their time at Smugglers'.

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program Do you have trouble fitting in swim lessons for your children in your busy Summer schedule? Now you can incorporate your child’s and adult swim lessons into your Summer vacation! As an American Red Cross Authorized Provider, this Summer Smugglers' will once again be offering Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes for ages 5 through adult.
These classes provide instruction to help swimmers develop their swimming and water safety skills. The program is designed to give students a positive learning experience. Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. There are six learn-to-swim levels. Each level builds on skills learned in the previous level. Children who have not participated in Red Cross lessons previously will be placed appropriately based on their current swimming skills.
The Learn-to-Swim program will run Monday through Friday and classes will meet in the morning to permit children to participate in Summer Fun University for the rest of the day. Children ages five years & older are able to participate in this program. Classes will have a 1 instructor to 6 student teaching ratio.
Our popular Private Swim Instruction Programs are available daily.
Offered Monday through Friday. $80 for five 1/2 hour sessions level 1-4. $115 for five 45 minute sessions level 5 & 6.
Ages 5 to 15. Levels 1 & 2 at 9:00 am - 9:30 am; levels 3 & 4 at 8:15 am - 8:45 am; levels 5 & 6 at 8:15 am - 9:00 am. Ages 16 to adult. Levels 1 - 4 at 10:00 am - 10:30 am; levels 5 & 6 at 10:00 am - 10:45 am.
Mom & Me, Dad & Me... American Red Cross Parent and Child Aquatics
Ages 6 months to 5 years. Become part of your child's swimming development with a Parent and Child aquatics class. You'll participate in guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, from water entry to underwater exploration and more. All sessions are in our heated pools with a 1:10 instructor to parent/child ratio.
Offered Monday through Friday. 5 consecutive 1/2 hour sessions, $80 per parent & child. Level A (6 mos. - 2 yrs.) at 10:00 am; level B (18 mos. - 5 yrs.) at 10:30 am. Swim diapers required for children not toilet trained.
Kids' Night Out
If your ideal Summer vacation includes a romantic dinner or an evening out socializing at one of our adult events, we offer Kids' Night Out at TREASURES. Kids enjoy dinner and fun activities, such as dodge ball, scavenger hunts and art projects with our caring staff. Your children, accompanied by our staff, will have the option of attending scheduled family evening entertainment. The evening closes with ice cream, popcorn and a movie.
