Notch Squad Camp (click for details)
For Ages 11 - 15 years.
Offered daily, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Every day Notch Squad Campers will be able to create their own experience by choosing 3 activities from a daily menu.

Campers will arrive at the Notch Squad tent in the morning and see the menu of options for the day. Their day will be broken up into three sessions. One morning session and two afternoon sessions. After each session campers will be brought back to the Notch Squad tent to join the next activity for their next session.

Regular price $85 per person per day. Notch Squad daily programs are INCLUDED for those children paid to be on the FamilyFest or Adventure Connection Vacation Package. SimplySmuggs Package guests take 25% OFF when pre-registered prior to arrival.

Every day Notch Squad campers will be able to create their own experience by choosing three activities from a daily menu. There will always be an option for swimming and games during each session. After each session campers will return to the Notch Squad tent to join the next activity group.

Monday's Choices —
Ice Breakers & Field Games
- Campers will play games designed to break the ice and help campers to get to know one another in a fun and exciting way.
Bug Hunt – Using our collecting equipment and nature guides, campers will learn about the amazing diversity of insects in a wild meadow.
The Abenaki Way – Campers hike to the ancient forest and learn hands-on how the native Americans used natural materials to survive, and will play Native American games using objects from nature.
Tie-dye – We provide the t-shirts, or you can bring your own cotton items.

Tuesday's Choices —
All Notch Squad groups will go to Bootleggers’ Basin for a fun day of swimming, games, crafts, nature exploration and more. Please wear sturdy shoes. Campers can pack a bag lunch or purchase one from our lunch program.
Camp Crafts – Create something beautiful with gimp (plastic lacing), a perennial favorite.
Games, Games, Games – Choose from volleyball and many other fun field games.
Survival Skills – Campers will build a shelter and learn how to catch fish and build a fire using materials that can be found in the forest.
Sound and Stage – Start creating your performance as a group for Thursday’s show.

Wednesday's Choices —
Low Ropes Challenge Course
– Groups will participate in activities using low elements designed to promote teamwork and cooperation.
Silk Screening – take your tie-dye shirt a step further with a group designed logo printed on it.
Wood Burning – Decorate projects with your own designs. Frames, plaques and boxes will be provided or bring your own hiking stick.
Dinosaur Hunt – Learn how to scientifically study a “real” (museum-grade replicated) dinosaur fossil trail in
the woods, and have the opportunity to examine real and replicated dinosaur fossils.
Sound & Stage – Work on learning your lines for Thursday’s performance.

Thursday's Choices —
Field Games
– Groups will play high energy games like capture the flag and other games using balls, Frisbees and more in one of our open fields.
Leather Stamping – Stamp and stain bracelets, key fobs, hiking stick handles and more.
Recycled Art and Fashion – Learn to alter old clothes and surplus materials into new apparel and accessories.
Sterling Pond Hike – A challenging hike on the Long Trail through imposing geological formations, fascinating nature, and stunning views of the Notch.
Dress Rehearsal – Practice for the evening’s performance. Finish the day with a performance at the Vermont Country Fair at 5:00 pm.

Friday's Choices —
High Ropes Adventure
– Campers challenge their mind and body as they maneuver around obstacles on our High Ropes Course.
Batik – Use wax and dye to make designs on cloth.
Geocaching – Using our GPS units, campers can look for hidden caches and keep the “treasures” (minerals, gems, ancient coins, etc.) they find.

Saturday & Sunday's Choices —
Campers’ Choice
– Campers will be given a variety of planned activities to choose from including but not limited to: water wars, mini-golf, kick ball, as well as any other activities they participated in throughout the week.
Polymer Clay (Saturday) – You may know it as Fimo or Sculpy! Make beads, pendants or sculptures with this versatile medium.
Jewelry Making (Sunday) – It’s not just beads. We’ll use wire, hardware, twine and clay to make beautiful, wearable art.
Brewster River Gorge – On this popular hike, campers will identify and learn about birds, rock formations, and other interesting features of this nature trail.
Summer Fungus U – Forest fungi are bizarre and amazing! We’ll forage for fun(gi), figure out their funny names, and freak out at the fabulous facts we find out!

General Information

Our activities are all CHALLENGE BY CHOICE. This means that if at any point one of the campers does not feel comfortable with any activity, he/she can either step aside and observe, or counselors may help him/her to find a more comfortable way to be a part of the group, without doing the specific activity.

Children in Notch Squad programs are grouped by ages 11-12 & 13-15 years. Youth to Counselor Ratio 1:12.

Parents Please Note: Our counselors will include your children in our Children's Program Lunch if they do not bring their lunch or if prior arrangements for their lunch have not been made. A charge of $6.75 per child, per lunch, will be automatically posted to your credit card. The lunch buffet includes:

Sunday: Tacos, taco fixings with taco beef, Mexican rice, penne pasta with marinara sauce.
Monday: Grilled cheese, veggie burger, broccoli florets, penne pasta with marinara sauce.
Tuesday: Penne pasta with marinara sauce, meatballs, broccoli florets, garlic bread.
Wednesday: Hamburger, veggie burger, corn, mashed potato, penne pasta with marinara sauce.
Thursday: Cheese quesadillas, chicken quesadillas, quesadilla toppings, penne pasta with marinara sauce.
Friday: Pepperoni pizza, cheese pizza, penne pasta with marinara sauce.
Saturday: Homemade macaroni and cheese, broccoli florets, veggie burger, penne pasta with marinara sauce.

Daily offerings include: Tossed salad, carrots, celery, assorted Summer salads, whole fruit, soy butter & jelly sandwich, pudding, Jell-O, applesauce, and mandarin oranges.

Beverages: Water, lemonade, milk, chocolate milk.

• Sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes should be worn. NO SANDALS allowed.
• You should be dressed for an active outdoor day, including sweatshirt, light jacket or raincoat if needed.

Notch Squad Overnight Hike (click for details)
Ages 11 - 15. Tuesdays 5:00 pm.
Come spend an overnight away from your condo with your favorite Notch Squad counselors at the Madonna Base
Lodge.
The night will start off with a pizza dinner followed by floor hockey, dodge ball, other outdoor games and music throughout the night. The Notch Squad counselors will build a bonfire and campers will be able to roast marshmallows, make S’mores and hang out by the bonfire. The night will end with an evening hike through the darkness of the Vermont wilderness and a movie. Sleeping bags are provided. Please bring your own pillow, sturdy shoes and a warm sweatshirt or sweater. Campers will be dropped off at the Welcome sign at 7:30 am the following morning. Every camper will receive a one-of-a-kind Notch Squad Overnight t-shirt.

$49 first child, $40 each additional child in family. Additional child rate applies only to children on the same reservation. Sign up at the Guest Service Desk by 12:00 noon on Tuesday.

Learn or improve technique, develop tennis strategies and of course play games!

Groups will be created based on ability levels and instructors will put the fun in the FUNdamentals of tennis. This 3-day program includes:

Skateboard Camp (click for details)
For ages 9 - 17 years.
Tuesday & Wednesday, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Do you have the desire but are lacking the skills? This 2-day Skateboard Camp will help get you in tune. Focus on the fundamentals of balance, position, stopping, falling techniques and skating safety or learn new tricks.

Day two will find you headed for an afternoon of ollies and rails at an off-site skate park. Camp includes skilled instruction, individual skill assessment, video analysis, lunch and pool time. Helmet and pads required. All equipment provided if needed. Transportation provided for 2nd day field trip. Skateboard Camp will be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Golf Programs for Kids

Junior Intro to Golf — Open to ages 5 - 17.
This clinic is an introduction to the sport with a focus on the fundamentals, golf etiquette, beginning to swing, the importance of safety and FUN!
Tuesday & Wednesday, 4:30 pm -5:30 pm. $25 per person.

Great Golf Escape for Beginners — Open to ages 13 & older.
Get started with the great game of golf in this one day program. Learn grip, posture and alignment along with swing fundamentals in the morning. Enjoy on course instruction in the afternoon at a local country club where you’ll play 3 or 4 holes and learn golf rules, etiquette and the “how to’s” of managing your game.
Tuesday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, $129 per person, lunch included, must provide own transportation. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Great Golf Escape requires sneakers or soft spikes for on-course play. Golf clubs provided if needed. Advanced registration is recommended.

Tennis Lessons for Kids

Beginner - Intermediate Junior Clinic — Open to ages 9 - 15.
This clinic is designed for those players who have never played, have played very little, or could just use some extra work on the FUNndamentals of tennis. Tennis racquet provided if needed.
Monday & Friday, 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, $21 per youth advanced registration recommended.

Intermediate - Advanced Junior Clinic — Open to ages 12 - 17.
This clinic is designed for players who have some tennis playing experience to those who are currently playing high school tennis. The emphasis will be on shot-making, controlling the ball, and net play.
Monday & Friday, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, $21 per youth advanced registration recommended.

Skateboard Clinics for Kids

Skate Clinic Level 1
Ages 7-18, Monday 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm & Tuesday 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm & Thursday 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Learn the basics of skateboarding and skateboarding safety in this kids only clinic. Learn balance and body position to gain comfort rolling and skating over changing terrain. Equipment provided. One and one half hour clinic. $30 per person.

Skate Clinic Level 2
Ages 7-18, Monday 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm & Thursday 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Take your skating up a notch in this hour and a half clinic. Learn the basics of skating ramps and features and the how to's of performing flat ground tricks in the Smuggs skate park. Previous skateboard experience is requried. Equipment provided. Limited space available, advance registration required. $30 per person.

Skate Clinic Level 3
Ages 7-18, Thursday 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Learn to master tricks and ramps and ride the whole skate park. Get ready to take your skating to the next level. Previous skateboard experience is requried. Equipment provided. Limited space available, advance registration required. $30 per person.

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program

Do you have trouble fitting in swim lessons for your children in your busy Summer schedule? Now you can incorporate your child’s and adult swim lessons into your Summer vacation! As an American Red Cross Authorized Provider, Smugglers' offers Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes for ages 5 through adult.

These classes provide instruction to help swimmers develop their swimming and water safety skills. The program is designed to give students a positive learning experience. Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. There are six learn-to-swim levels. Each level builds on skills learned in the previous level. Children who have not participated in Red Cross lessons previously will be placed appropriately based on their current swimming skills. Classes will have a 1 instructor to 6 student teaching ratio. The Learn-to-Swim program will meet in the morning to permit children to participate in Summer Fun University for the rest of the day.

Offered Monday - Friday. Ages 5 - 15. Levels 1 & 2 meet 9:00 am - 9:30 am; levels 3 & 4 meet 8:15 am - 8:45 am; levels 5 & 6 meet 8:15 am - 9:00 am.

$80 for five 1/2 hour sessions level 1-4. $115 for five 45 minute sessions level 5 & 6.
