Discovery Camp Activities

Discovery Dynamos All-Day Program
For Ages 3 - 4 years.
Offered daily, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Regular price $85 per person per day. Discovery Dynamos daily programs are INCLUDED for those children paid to be on the FamilyFest or Adventure Connection Vacation Package. SimplySmuggs Package guests take 25% OFF when pre-registered prior to arrival.

Discovery is exactly what this all day program is about. Youngsters will explore Vermont nature and the forests, make creative crafts, search for the pirates treasure, make new friends and have plenty of play time too.

Children are placed in groups based on age and developmental abilities. Typically 3 years olds are placed together and 4 years olds are placed together. If you wish children of different ages to be in the same group, the older child will be placed with the younger child, in a group appropriate to the younger child.

Discovery Dynamos Program is licensed by the State of Vermont Social Rehabilitiation Services to ensure the best programming and care possible for children ages 3-4. Children must be completely toilet trained to participate in the Discovery Dynamos program. No pull ups or diapers are allowed in this program.

Theme of the Day(Click here for more details.)
Each day the activities will focus around one central theme. Other activities, unrelated to the theme of the day, may also take place. Parents are encouraged to participate in our Theme Week celebration on Thursdays.

Sunday — Creative Crafts
Children will use their imaginations to create projects using a variety of materials such as clay, paint, and recycled items.

Monday — Rockin' Rythms and Musical Fun
Children sing some old favorites and learn a couple new songs. A sing-along will begin at 10:30 am featuring our own Rockin' Ron the Friendly Pirate and Pearl the Purple Pirate Princess, followed by an afternoon of making our own music and dance.

Tuesday — Mogul Mouse & Billy Bob Bear Mystery
Mogul Mouse and Billy Bob Bear are missing and we need the children's help to find them. They follow the nursery rhyme clues to each location to find out where they are hiding. Groups will get their photo taken with the Characters.

Wednesday — Tricky Wednesdays
This will be an action packed day filled with running and jumping as we test our physical abilities and build our self-confidence by going through a mini obstacle course and enjoy other movement activities. Stanley the Frisbee Dog will also be here to show us his special tricks.

Thursday — Theme Day & Creative Fun
The children will finish their masks and/or costumes to prepare for the afternoon Theme Week Celebration. The Celebration will be at 3:15 pm on the Village Green. The event will begin with a parade. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend.
(Theme Week schedules are posted at Camp Meeting areas.)

Friday — Search for Pirate's Treasure
The groups will follow clues around the Village to find the Rockin' Ron the Friendly Pirate and his hidden treasure.

Saturday — The Great Reservoir Adventure
Children will ride to the Highlands Lodge where they will learn about frogs through puppet games, fun stories, and arts and crafts. Then they'll hike to the Reservoir where they'll see frogs and tadpoles up close, and explore the nature of a forest pond.

Nature Investigations
Children investigate the Vermont woods and streams with their own Smugglers' naturalists. The naturalist leads the children through discoveries of the wonders of nature, from catching bugs to catching frogs and a visit to our Nature Center. The counselors sign up with the naturalists for a specific day and time depending on the availability of the naturalist.
