Trail Blazers Camp Adventures

Trail Blazers All-Day Program
For Ages 5 - 6 years.
Offered daily, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Regular price $85 per person per day. Trail Blazers daily programs are INCLUDED for those children paid to be on the FamilyFest or Adventure Connection Vacation Package.


Trail Blazers Camp
Let your young camper begin to explore the world of Smugglers' Notch in our Trail Blazers program. Trail Blazers is uniquely designed to meet the needs of 5 & 6 year-olds who are ready for more of an adventure than Discovery Dynamos (3-4 year-olds), and getting ready for Adventure Rangers (7-10 year-olds). This all-day program will start to challenge you child with fun physical activity and introduce some of the options they will have in Adventure Rangers while providing the opportunities for rest and relaxation that 5 & 6 year-olds need.

Trail Blazers Camp Activities
Arts & Crafts
Create wonderful projects using your imagination! Make the costumes you will wear during the Theme Week Parade on Thursdays. Materials will be geared toward children's ages and abilities.

Nature & Hiking
Take mini-hikes and explore our forests, ponds, streams and brooks. Learn about the wonders of nature and how to identify animal tracks while having fun with new friends.

Adventure & Games
Play field games and other team activities that will form bonds and build trust among teammates. Ultimately the group will be introduced to our low ropes course, which will thrill and challenge these young pioneers.

Each day the activities will focus around one central theme. Other activities, unrelated to the theme of the day, may also take place. Parents are encouraged to participate in our Theme Week celebration on Thursdays.

Sunday — Habitats Day
Campers will use nets, magnifying glasses, and view boxes to find and study the amazing variety of insects in a field, and will be able to view the underwater world of fish, tadpoles and frogs up close using our "FishCam" - an underwater video camera.

Monday — Musical Options
Campers kick off the day by creating a song or cheer. They then get to join the Notch Squad and Adventure Rangers on the Green for the wrap-up of Monday Morning Mayhem.

Tuesday — Creature Feature
Each week our resident professor brings a different exotic animal to visit the children for a unique learning experience.

Wednesday — Fun on the Green
Campers may attend a show starring Stanley the Frisbee Dog performing his high-flying frisbee catches. They may have the opportunity to play catch post-performance.

Thursday — Theme Day Parade
This day is dedicated to making costumes and preparing for the afternoon parade. All parents are invited to attend our parade on the Village Green at 3:30 pm.

Friday — Hunt for the Pirate Treasure
Our day starts off with a treasure map full of clues to follow and lead our campers to the Friendly Pirate and his treasure.

Saturday — Low Ropes Challenge
Groups will hike to the Low Ropes Course for a day of team building experiences. Campers will have the opportunity to stop and explore at our Village Reservoir on the way.

Every Day Activities Sampling

Trail Blazers Camp Pool Time
Daily Activities: Water play, snacks, stories, quiet time and an option of games, hiking, or arts & crafts.

Water Play
Groups with non-swimmers will get a chance to play in our Little Smugglers' Lagoon or the Turtle Slide, where the water is 2 1/2 feet deep and children are carefully supervised by counselors and lifeguards. If your child can pass the swim test he or she can go to the lap pool at Mountainside and to Notchville Park.

Rest/Story Time
Each day the children will take a rest while we tell them stories.

Snack Time
Groups will get a snack in the afternoon. There is a different snack every day. Check out our bulletin board, located in the entrance to the lower Meeting House, for the current Snack Schedule.

Trail Blazers Program is licensed by the State of Vermont Social Rehabilitation Services to ensure the best programming and care possible for children ages 5-6.

How to find your child during the day: The best time to check on your child is at lunch time, which is 11:15 am in the Meeting House. The Guest Service Desk can also help you locate groups throughout the day.

All children must be picked up by 4:00 pm in the Lower Meeting House.

Typical Day in Camp:
9:15 am - 9:45 am Check in/Registration
9:45 am - 11:00 am Morning Activity
11:15 am Lunch time in the Lower Meeting House
11:45 am - 4:00 pm Afternoon activities (e.g., pool time, snack time, arts & crafts, and games)

Typical Child to Counselor Ratio 1:8. Arrangements can be made for children requiring more individual attention than with the above ratio for an additional fee.

Camp Program Lunch For your convenience, we invite your children to participate in our optional Children’s Program Lunch at an additional fee of $5.75 per child, (ages 3-6) per day, plus tax.
The lunch buffet includes:

hot entrées • whole wheat pasta & sauce • tossed salad • carrots & celery • whole fruit • assorted salads
soy butter & jelly • pudding • Jello • water • lemonade • milk • chocolate milk


SUNDAY Mexican taco day

MONDAY Grilled cheese, veggie burger, and broccoli

TUESDAY Lasagna rolette, broccoli, and garlic bread

WEDNESDAY Hamburger, veggie burger, mashed potatoes, and corn

THURSDAY Baked fish sticks, veggie burger, and broccoli

FRIDAY Pepperoni pizza, and cheese pizza

SATURDAY Turkey & cheese roll-ups, broccoli, and garlic bread

Please Note:If you have not packed a lunch we will bill your guest account $5.75 + tax for camp lunch.

What should you wear?
• Sturdy sneakers or hiking shoes should be worn. NO SANDALS allowed.
• You should be dressed for an active outdoor day, including sweatshirt, light jacket or raincoat if needed.
• Please label all of your belongings.

Golf Programs for Kids (click for details)

Junior Intro to Golf — Open to ages 5 - 17.
This clinic is an introduction to the sport with a focus on the fundamentals, golf etiquette, beginning to swing, the importance of safety and FUN!
Tuesday & Wednesday, 4:30 pm -5:30 pm. $25 per person.

Tennis Lessons for Kids (click for details)

Early Risers Clinic — Open to ages 5 - 8.
Young tennis enthusiasts, come explore the game of tennis with foam balls and fun play emphasizing fundamental skills and hand-eye coordination. Beginners welcome, equipment provided. This clinic will be cancelled in case of inclement weather.
Tuesday & Thursday 9:10 am - 9:45 am. $19 per person. Advance registration required.

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program (click for details)

Do you have trouble fitting in swim lessons for your children in your busy Summer schedule? Now you can incorporate your child’s and adult swim lessons into your Summer vacation! As an American Red Cross Authorized Provider, Smugglers' offers Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes for ages 5 through adult.

These classes provide instruction to help swimmers develop their swimming and water safety skills. The program is designed to give students a positive learning experience. Learn-to-Swim teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. There are six learn-to-swim levels. Each level builds on skills learned in the previous level. Children who have not participated in Red Cross lessons previously will be placed appropriately based on their current swimming skills. Classes will have a 1 instructor to 6 student teaching ratio. The Learn-to-Swim program will meet in the morning to permit children to participate in Summer Fun University for the rest of the day.

Offered Monday - Friday. Ages 5 - 15. Levels 1 & 2 meet 9:00 am - 9:30 am; levels 3 & 4 meet 8:15 am - 8:45 am; levels 5 & 6 meet 8:15 am - 9:00 am.

$80 for five 1/2 hour sessions level 1-4. $115 for five 45 minute sessions level 5 & 6.


Mom & Me, Dad & Me... American Red Cross Parent and Child Aquatics

Become part of your child's swimming development with a Parent and Child aquatics class. You'll participate in guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, from water entry to underwater exploration and more. All sessions are in our heated pools with a 1:10 instructor to parent/child ratio.

Offered Monday - Friday. Ages 6 months to 5 years. Level A (6 mos. - 2 yrs.) meet 10:00 am; level B (18 mos. - 5 yrs.) meet 10:30 am. Swim diapers required for children not toilet trained.

$80 per parent & child for five consecutive 1/2 hour sessions.

Kids' Night Out (click for details)

If your ideal Summer vacation includes a romantic dinner or an evening out socializing at one of our adult events, we offer Kids' Night Out at TREASURES. Kids enjoy dinner and fun activities, such as dodge ball, scavenger hunts and art projects with our caring staff. Your children, accompanied by our staff, will have the option of attending scheduled family evening entertainment. The evening closes with ice cream, popcorn and a movie.

5:30 pm - 9:30 pm. $30 per night, per child; for youngsters 3 - 11 years old. Children must be potty trained. 24 hour advance reservation required.

Babysitting Services (click for details)

Evening Babysitters:
TREASURES will help to arrange a private caregiver for evenings in your vacation home. Babysitters will entertain your children at home with games and stories, or take them to evening family activities if you wish.

A non-refundable $10 finders fee per babysitter is paid to TREASURES. A $12/hour, first child, $1/hour each additional child payment is made directly to babysitter for this service. Large groups of children will require multiple sitters. 48-hour advance reservations required, space available basis. Once we have confirmed your babysitter, changes in arrival time of the sitter may not be feasible. Call 802-644-1193 to make your arrangements for babysitters.
