Smugglers' canoeing and kayaking outings are great fun for all ages, providing opportunities to explore our local waterways, learn about natural habitats, and create great memories. Paddle the Lamoille River at sunset, search for beavers at work, tour a local winery or take an ice cream float featuring a sweet treat. Or simply enjoy the serenity of paddling with our professional guides, or renting a canoe or kayak to explore on your own.
All canoe and kayak adventures include paddling and water safety instruction. Ending times listed are approximate. Must provide own transportation to launch site for all paddling adventures. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Adventure Days - Lake Kayak Tuesday, 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. Learn to kayak, refine your skills, play sponge tag and explore quiet waters of a nearby lake. $75 per person. Bring a lunch, swimsuit, water to drink and day pack. Ages 13 - Adult. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests must provide own transportation. Advance registration required. Limited space available.
Ice Cream Float Tuesday 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. What could be a more relaxing and enjoyable combination than an afternoon family canoe trip with a special stop for an ice cream treat? Enjoy some of Vermont’s finest rivers and ice cream! $85 per canoe. Advance registration required, limited space available.
Morning Pond Paddle Tuesday & Saturday 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, Wednesday & Thursday 9:00 am - 11:00 am. The morning pond paddle gives you a chance to experiment with all our boats, single and tandem kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards on a beautiful 15-acre private pond. If you have hesitations about taking any of these boats down the river for the first time, this is a perfect opportunity to try them first on calm waters. $40 per person, ages 13 - Adult. Advance registration required, limited space available.
Water & Wine Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 12:00 noon - 3:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Travel by canoe on the traditional waterways used by early settlers and understand how the pastoral landscape continues to shape local history. Finish the tour at the Boyden Valley Winery in Cambridge. The tour includes wine tasting with local Vermont cheeses and French bread in the winery’s restored carriage barn. $50 per person. Advance registration required, limited space available.
Evening Wildlife Watch Tuesday, 5:30 pm - Dusk Enjoy a fun evening canoe tour, which will have you paddling along the Lamoille River past many varieties of wildlife. You may see ducks, blue heron, turtles, beaver lodges, and maybe even the beavers that built the lodges. $80 per canoe. Advance registration required, limited space available.
Canoe or Kayak Rental on the Lamoille River Daily, on the hour, from 8:00 am - 11:00 am or 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Explore the beauty of the Lamoille River at your leisure. Professional guides will instruct you in paddling and water safety, then send you off on your own paddling adventure! One-person kayak rentals are $40. Canoe or tandem kayak rental are $70. Included with the Adventure Connection Vacation Package. Your trips will be 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 hours based on your choice of pick-up location. Advance registration required, limited space available.
