Smugglers' canoeing and kayaking outings are great fun for all ages, providing opportunities to explore our local waterways, learn about natural habitats, and create great memories. Paddle the Lamoille River at sunset, search for beavers at work, tour a local winery or take an ice cream float featuring a sweet treat. Or simply enjoy the serenity of paddling with our professional guides, or renting a canoe or kayak to explore on your own.
All paddling adventures include basic paddling and water safety instruction and meet behind The Family Table Restaurant on Rte. 15 in Jeffersonville, unless otherwise noted. All participants must provide their own transportation to the site. Actual river trip times will vary depending on the paddlers’ skill level and river current. This is a flat river with no experience necessary. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Canoe, Kayak, and Stand-Up Paddleboard(SUP) Rentals & Shuttle Daily on the hour 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Explore the scenic Lamoille River at your leisure. Our guides will shuttle you upriver, launch you with basic paddling instruction if needed, then send you on your way. Feel free to take a picnic lunch, bathing suits, fishing poles, stop on a beach or just enjoy a relaxing day on the river. Single kayaks and SUPs are $40, canoe and tandem kayaks are $70. One canoe or kayak rental is included in your Adventure Connection Package.
Kayaks and Cocktails Monday, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm Similar but different from our popular water and wine tour, you’ll paddle down a different stretch of river in kayaks or canoes ending at our outpost. Your guide will then take you to the Smugglers’ Notch Distillery here in Jeffersonville where you will be treated to a private tour and tasting of their quality spirits—vodka, gin, rum and bourbon. $55 per person.
Morning Pond Paddle Monday, 9:30 am - 11:30 am This is an opportunity for you to try out all our boats-- stand up paddleboards, single and tandem kayaks and canoes on a calm, beautiful 15 acre pond setting. Your guide will be with you for the first hour giving instruction then letting you explore on your own. $40 per person.
NEW! - Morning Maple Tour Tuesday, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm Combine and hour and a half morning paddle downriver to the Maple Outlet in Jeffersonville where you will learn about the process of making maple syrup, see a live beehive making honey, enjoy a maple creemee or fresh Vermont Brown and Jenkins gourmet coffee, then take home maple goodie! A pure and delicious Vermont treat. $55 per person.
Kayak Adventure Day Tuesday, 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. Join our skilled guides and learn how to kayak on one of Vermont's beautiful waterways. You will learn the basics of kayaking safely while enjoying fun new adventures. $75 per person. Bring a lunch, swimsuit, water to drink and day pack. Ages 13 - Adult. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests must provide own transportation. Advance registration required. Limited space available. Tour meets at the Clubhouse and departs from Smugglers'.
Ice Cream Float Tuesday, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm What could be a more relaxing and enjoyable combination than an afternoon or early evening family canoe trip with a special stop on the river for an ice cream treat! Enjoy one of Vermont’s finest rivers and Ben and Jerry’s finest ice cream. For kids and big kids at heart! $85 per canoe.
Morning River Kayak Wednesday & Saturday, 9:00 am - 11:00 am An excellent start to your day. Your guide will take you down a 4.5 mi. scenic stretch of river at a leisurely pace. You’ll have your choice of single or tandem kayaks. This is a great opportunity for beginning kayak paddlers with little or no experience to enjoy the river. We have single kayaks for ages 8 and up. $45 per person.
SUP Yoga Wednesday & Saturday, 9:30 am - 11:00 am What better way to enjoy the art of Yoga than floating on a paddleboard on a beautiful, calm, serene pond setting in the mountains of Vermont! Practice traditional poses on the water along with free time to Stand Up Paddleboard. Never tried either? No problem—this is geared toward all levels from beginners to advanced as you challenge yourself. It’s easier than you think. $40 per person.
Water and Wine Wednesday - Sunday, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm Two tours in one-- Paddle in the boat of your choice down the river to the Boyden Valley Winery in Cambridge. Your guide will then take you from the river to the winery where you will be treated to a wine tour, wine tasting, and a platter of Vt. cheddar and baguettes. After your stay your guide will shuttle you back to your car at our outpost. $55 per person.
NEW! - SUP River Trip Thursday, 9:30 am - 11:30 am New to stand-up paddleboarding? Ever tried an SUP on a river? If not, this is the tour for you. You will have a guide to help you navigate the 4.5 miles on the river on an SUP. It's really easier than you think...just do it. $45 per person.
Please arrive 15-20 min. prior to start of all tours. A canoe can hold up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children whose combined weight does not exceed 150 lbs. People in middle do not paddle. Tandem kayaks hold 2 paddlers only. SUP is a stand-up paddleboard for one.
