No trip to Vermont would be complete without at least a little mountain biking. The Smugglers' Notch region offers some of the best mountain biking in Northern New England with over 100 miles of great single track within an easy drive. At Smuggs we are developing premier beginner and novice mountain bike trails and some more challenging single track.
Our professionally trained mountain bike instructors and guides will help you to get the most out of your experience, whether you're just learning to ride, want to further develop your skills, or get a personal tour. Our new pump track is great fun for experienced riders as well as beginners.
And with our convenient rental program, you don't have to worry about having the right bike. We have a wide array of frame sizes available for adults & children. Mountain bikes can be rented from 3 Mountain Equipment daily, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Stop by the Tennis Center to pick up maps and learn more details about our Mountain Biking Programs.
Mountain Bike Camp

Mountain Bike Camp is for anyone wanting to learn the basics of trail riding or looking for new challenges. Discover the joy of riding at your own pace, exploring the forest trails that surround us. In this three-day offering you will also learn about the history of mountain biking and the opportunities to ride at home. Whether taking a first step into a new sport, or fine-tuning advanced technique, Mountain Bike Camp is for anyone looking to ride! $219 per person for 3-day program, $79 per person for single day program. Includes instruction, equipment, and lunch. Mountain Bike Camp is included with the Adventure Connection Package. FamilyFest Package guests take 25% OFF.
Mountain Bike Group Ride
Monday & Saturday 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm
If you and your family are ready to explore the trails with your mountain bike, then this group ride is for you. These tours are at a moderate pace and will help you gain confidence out on the trail. Age 15 & up. $30 per person, minimum of 3 participants needed for program to run. Basic mountain biking skills required. Program meets at the Clubhouse.
Learn to Mountain Bike Clinics
Monday 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Friday & Saturday 10:30 am – 12:00 noon
Learn the basics of mountain biking in this one and a half hour clinic. You will have fun and gain more confidence while learning proper body position, shifting, trail etiquette and other tips to prepare you to hit the trail! Ages 7 & older, 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult. Clinics are limited to 6 participants. $48 per person, bike and helmet included. Program meets at the Clubhouse.
Back Roads Bike Tour
Wednesday, 10:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Join us for a wonderful day exploring the country roads and rolling farmland around the resort on a mountain bike.
$75 per person. Bring a lunch, water and day pack. Ages 13 & older. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests must provide own transportation. Includes equipment. Program meets at the Clubhouse. Space is limited, advance registration is recommended. Included with the Adventure Connection Vacation Package.
Mountain Bike Lessons
Private lessons available for you, your group or family.
Guided rides on or off property. Please call to design what works best for you! $60 per hour for an individual. $90 per hour, per group (up to 6 people). 2 hour minimum. Check for availability.
Ride with a personal guide to explore some of Northern Vermont's best single track. Guided rides on or off property, terrain is picked to suit your riding ability. Open to intermediate and advanced riders only. Please call to design what works best for you! $60 per hour up to 6 people. $200 for 4 hours. Guests must provide own transportation. Guides are limited, advance registration is recommended.

Stowe Bike & Recreational Path
Enjoy Stowe's bike path, a year-round, 5.3 mile paved recreational trail. The trail starts in Stowe Village, next to the Stowe Congregational church, winds its way through the woods and meadows, and crosses the West Branch River 11 times on arched wooden bridges. Numerous shops, lodges, and restaurants are accessible from the path. Click here for the Stowe Bike Path map. The map identifies bicycle rental shops as well as parking along the route.
