What's a Segway, you ask? It's a self-balancing personal transportation vehicle, a two-wheeled device that is being used across the nation for commuting and recreational purposes.

One of the first questions that comes up when people see a Segway is, "How do you balance with only two wheels?" The Segway does all the work, because once a rider steps onto the standing platform, the Segway balances itself with a complicated system of internal gyroscopes. The rider's job is easy: he or she leans forward to move forward, leans back to reverse, and grips the steering handles to turn. According to Fortune Magazine, "Using a Segway is so intuitive that it feels as though the thing has somehow been plugged into your central nervous system."

The excitement and technology of the Segway Tour experience is a fun, safe, informative activity not to be missed. They're easy to ride. Helmets are provided.

After a brief introduction and training session about Segways, embark on a ride like no other.

Maximum of 5 people per 1-hour tour.

Extreme SegRide Tour
Ages 12- Adult
Experience the next level of SegRides on a Segway XT - An All Terrain Segway. Go off the beaten path on this guided ride through the rugged forested terrain surrounding Smugglers'.
1 1/2-hour tours, Monday - Saturday, 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, or 4:00 pm. $85 per person.

Available June 13 - September 1, 2008. Advance registration required, limited space available. Stop by the Guest Services Desk, FunMeister's Club House or Tennis Center to sign up.

Segway RentalsAges 13 - Adult
Take a ride on the Segway X2 with the latest lean stear technology and explore on your own.
Must be a licensed driver. 2-hour rental includes basic skills and instruction, $65 per person, or $100 for two rentals. Kids 13 - 18 must be accompanied by a renting adult.
