Artists in the Mountains

Take some time off the slopes to dabble in the arts. Specially designed, hands-on workshops help you create your own arts and crafts project to enjoy for years to come. Local artists provide instruction and all the materials needed to complete your project.

Learn to knit with Joanne Littler of Pine Ledge Fiber Studio using the European —pic’ method and a circular needle. For beginners and folks who already know how to knit — this alternative technique offers some very real advantages of the American or English method. Knitters who have only used straight needles are in for a surprise. Emphasis will be placed on practicing the skills required to complete a garter stitch scarf (long-tail cast-on, knitting, binding off and finishing). Fee includes materials (Each participant will receive written instructions, their own 16" circular needle and enough yarn for 2 scarves -'plain vanilla' yarn for the practice scarf, and your choice of colors from a selection of Crystal Palace yarns) that participants will keep. Additional materials will be available for purchase at the end of the session. Directions for additional projects will also be available. Please plan to bring a lunch. Ages 16 — adult.

Join local photographer, Karl Zygarowski in this workshop where all students will leave with a better understanding of their digital cameras and the technical knowledge to produce professional looking images with even the most basic digital camera. Poor lighting trouble-shooting, composition, contrast and much more will be covered in this workshop. Please bring your camera and your questions.

The Painting Place... A Walk In Studio

$7 per hour studio fee plus the price of the bisque piece

Creativity is unleashed in this walk-in You Paint It Pottery Studio located at the Artist in the Mountains at the Morse Highlands Day Lodge. Choose from a variety of unpainted pottery pieces such as plates, mugs, picture frames, ornaments and more, then create your own pottery masterpiece using a variety of painting techniques. Once fired in The Painting Place kiln, your piece will be food and dishwasher safe. No advance registration required. Additional charge for shipping.

U-Bead It Open Studio
Wednesday, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Prices range from $10 - $20

This open studio is for people of all ages. The three main projects of focus will be earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. For beginners, we have pre-cut memory wire, for simple stranded designs. For the more experienced beader, we have the hardware to create more intricate necklaces, such as magnetic barrel clasps and sterling silver toggles. Our beads range from glass, silver, femo to semi-precious gems. We have beads of all sizes so even the smallest fingers can make a project of their own. Located in the Artists in the Mountains at the Morse Highlands Day Lodge.

Snowman Family Painting
Wednesday 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm,

Parent & Child each paint a
platter for an additional $25

Picture your family as snowpeople and paint their portrait! Presented by the Painting Place, you will learn to use techniques such as sponging, masking and layering to paint a pottery platter masterpiece. Platters will be available for pick-up Fridays after 11:00 am. All materials provided.

Hair Braiding

Tropical style braids done at the mountain in the Fun Zone. We have an array of hair braiding styles ranging from a simple straight braid decorated with beads to a whole head of styled corn rows. Come look through our catalog and pick a style that’s just right for you. Enjoy it through your vacation and wear it home to show your friends. For an appointment, please first pick a style from the catalog available at the Fun Zone and then call Jo at 802-498-4785 to set up a time. Priced by style.

Painter's Palette
Thursday, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
$48 per person, per session

Acrylic painting for anyone who has considered painting but didn't think they could, or for artists who wish to increase their creativity. Primary colors are explored, along with composition and play. Each person will be pleased to bring home a painting at the end of this session.

Sculpting Workshop
Thursday, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$48 per person, per session

Explore your creative side as you develop natural forms into clay images in the three-dimensional art form. Nancy Schade leads you in clay modeling, learning the properties of various clays, and forming clay into a piece that can be finished. Take home a complete sculpture.
