Burlington International Airport has multiple car rental agencies both on and off site. It is recommended that during peak holiday time periods, or if you have a special request for specific size vehicle, a reservation be made in advance of your arrival in Burlington.

Getting here by car.

Major interstate highways provide easy access to northern Vermont. Highways are well-maintained for all seasons of travel. See Driving Directions for details.

Traveling to & from Canada.

For U.S. & Canadian residents traveling across the Canadian border, you will need to bring along either a valid driver's license, birth certificate or passport. U.S. resident aliens will also need a Green Card. All other foreign country residents will need their valid passport with I94 document.

If you are crossing the American/Canadian border and do not have your I94 document with you, you will need your valid passport and a visa. There will be a nominal fee to prepare the I94 documentation for you.
Airport/Amtrak Transfers:

A convenient van shuttle service is available to Smugglers' Notch Resort with 48 hours advance reservations from Burlington International Airport or Essex Junction Amtrak.
$45 per adult each way, one child (17 & under) per paying adult is free. Each additional child is $35 each way. Two-person minimum fare. Contact Smugglers’ Notch Reservations office at: or 802-644-8851 ext. 1389.
