Available December 4, 2015 - April 10, 2016
We start kids at age 3 on skis and snowboards in our all-day award-winning children's programs - it's never too young to learn!
Kids learn best through play! Our all-day Discovery Dynamos program for ages 3-4 encourages development and builds confidence through innovative teaching techniques. NEW this year, Dynamos will accelerate their progress by learning how to ski and ride at a new on-snow playground with sculpted snow features such as a 100-foot mini pipe, banked turns, and rollers. Kids will love fun learning tools like hoops and obstacle courses that accelerate their skills development. Smugglers' Riglet Park with its unique Treehouse, dedicated to developing the skills of little snowboarders, is now part of the new learning area, conveniently located in the heart of the resort village.
Your kids will learn through experience with our trained instructors who guide them on this specially groomed landscape that's fun and kid-friendly. Complementing the on-hill activities, Discovery Dynamos includes creative off-slope activites to keep kids engaged and rested. There is no better program for your little one.
Included in your child's ski or snowboard camp experience is use of a Flaik GPS for tracking vertical, mileage and speed during the camp day! You'll receive a unique password to review this information at the end of the day or when you return home.
Family travel website Pit Stops for Kids describes our Discovery Dynamos program: "The instructors are friendly, very focused on the kids, and seem to be really excited about teaching a new generation of skiers." Read more on pitstopsforkids.com!
Beginning snowboarders, ages 3-4, will be set up with Burton Learn to Ride equipment, specially developed to ease the learning curve and ensure a great experience for novice riders. These little snowboarders will enjoy learning and playing in our Burton Riglet Park with terrain park rails and boxes sized for young children, and a central "treehouse" with balance features and a swinging chair to practice getting on and off the lift!
The Discovery Dynamos program is available daily, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, including lunch. On-mountain instruction and activities last until 2:30 pm each day, followed by indoor entertainment until 4:00 pm.
Please note: All children must be picked up by 2:30 pm after the Cookie Race and Adventure Race on Thursdays so you can attend the Smuggs Winter Carnival as a family!
Children must be completely toilet trained and out of diapers and pull-ups to participate in this program. (Children who are not toilet trained can sign up for our Little Rascals on Snow Program for 2 1/2 to 3 year olds, or opt for private lessons, which can accommodate children as young as two.)
The Discovery Dynamos program is included for those children paid to be on the Club Smugglers' FamilyFest Package and the Club Smugglers' Summit Package. Regular rate $139 per day, per child.

SSU's Afternoon Entertainment is located in the lower level of the Meeting House and starts at approximately 2:30 pm (unless otherwise noted). Click the link above to view the schedule.
Kids' Program Lunch Menu
Our ski school program's lunch menu incorporates healthy options such as crisp fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and pastas, roasted rather than fried foods, veggie burgers and the like. As the ski school day is an active one, it is important to provide kids with nourishing food choices at their day's midpoint.

Looking for some tips to help your child develop a love of Winter snow sports? Snow Sport University director Harley Johnson and TREASURES Child Care Center director Shelly Schaffer offer Children's Snow Tips, a series of three videos on introducing young children to skiing and snowboarding, dressing young children for winter sports, and preparing for a successful ski school experience.
Expert’s tip: What can I do as a parent to help my young child have a good experience on the slopes?
Comfort is essential to a child’s happiness on the slopes. Therefore, have your child's equipment carefully fitted by a trained technician. Apparel should be layered so that it can be easily adjusted to temperature changes. At the end of an instructional program, solicit feedback from your child’s instructor about the child’s experience and what the recommended next step should be. And have fun and enjoy this exciting milestone with your child! –Harley Johnson, Snow Sport University director
